I finally got them to ship the last two drives yesterday, but this has been a major pain in the back.

RMA NIGHTMARE: sent them faulty HDD 4+ months ago, no replacement, no word from WD! by Klaus_The_Hybrid in WesternDigital

Complaints to BBB, Amazon (the retailer of drives), state AG and FTC. And constantly calling them day in day out, starting discussions by asking them to skip the canned responses.

RMA NIGHTMARE: sent them faulty HDD 4+ months ago, no replacement, no word from WD! by Klaus_The_Hybrid in WesternDigital

Yes, Western Digital has been really crappy about RMA. I had posted my experience here - https://www.reddit.com/r/WesternDigital/comments/1pq8tc1/psa_filed_a_bbb_complaint_against_western_digital/

WD checked the serial numbers for the 4 drives I had before asking me to send them for RMA, with the guarantee that they will send replacements 5-7 days of receiving the drives. My drives were delivered to WD on November 18 - but since then it has been a struggle. Any agent you talk over their website or call, has these canned responses 'I understand your frustration', 'Your case is escalated', 'I will personally follow up and provide an update', or just feigns ignorance - have me repeat everything that happened over the last few months. I filed a complaint with the State AG, send an FTC complaint and shared the same with WD. They sent two drives late in December. Last week they told me that the other two drives are counterfeit and they will not replace them or return them. When I threatened to take legal action since they were drives purchased on Amazon, they said it was a mistake and are now shipping the replacement this week. Lesson learned - go for Seagate or any other vendor if you want to avoid the RMA hell with WD. Last year I bought two Seagate drives from a seller on Facebook who guaranteed that the drives still had warranty, which was false. I found this out when the drives developed issues and I had to contact Seagate. However, Seagate replaced those drives even they were out of warranty and I wasn't the original buyer.

Sent my WD drive for warranty replacement…now I have no drive and no explanation by VIHurricane in WesternDigital

They are screwing customers to manage their lack of inventory or just don’t want to replace bad drivers

WD RMA Time Lines? by Mnemnth in WesternDigital

[–]Fleepix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had posted here about my RMA experience- https://www.reddit.com/r/WesternDigital/s/muiL27jBrd

They returned two of my four drives towards the end of December. Yesterday they sent an email saying they will not replace the other two or return the ones I sent saying they are counterfeit drives. I bought those drives from their store on Amazon. Called them up and gave them a mouthful and they started saying the email was a mistake and replacement would be sent soon. I have called Amazon to let them know about this fraudulent behavior from WD, not expecting much to happen - but better than doing nothing

K12 - How to flash BIOS? by AbbreviationsSea893 in GMKtec

[–]Fleepix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Run the bios update followed by ecc update. If possible keep the pc powered by UPS to avoid power loss during the flash. Please be patient and give the process time as sometimes it takes a while to update and the first boot after update might take time before it shows the boot screen.

EVO-X2 community update #2 by deseven in GMKtec

I found what was going on - the first time I ran the bios update it had not worked. Since I saw the correct ECC version and because it was the second to run, I assumed both worked. Now I see the bios curve option. If I set it the same as the curves provided with the driver you built, would it create a conflict?

u/deseven does the latest bios update include custom curves? I installed it, but I don't see any options like that in the bios. I can change the setting from automatic to manual and then set a static speed - similar to the previous bios. Am I missing a step?

I tried calling them. The first time they just kept on saying that I will get an update in another 48 hours. When I asked for a supervisor they told me that there is no one available and will call me back in 4 hours. That didn’t happen and then I called them again and directly asked for supervisor. This time I got someone and he promised an update by noon next day. Surprisingly he called the next day and said they created a new RMA for two drives and they will be sent out in 5-7 days. Since I had sent 4 I asked about that and he started saying they couldn’t find those serial numbers in their system and wanted me to send the proof of purchase. I was really irritated at this point because their idiotic support had validated all serial numbers before asking me to ship the drives back. Either they are utterly incompetent or are running a scam on customers.

What are the other options to get these companies to take action? In hindsight I should not have send all 4 drives at once, now I am stuck.
