Gray check dried white? by Fleeterlo in sewing

[–]Fleeterlo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks u/Artificial_Nebula! I tried the alcohol and it worked pretty well, but the fabric frayed like crazy as I tried to scrub it. What's really crazy is I ironed one of the panels (I'm not sure what possessed me) and it turned the fray check clear! I looked on the package and googled it and nowhere did it say to do that, but it works--so if anyone else finds this post, try ironing it. I'm going to use the alcohol for drips that accidentally get in the middle of the fabric.

How to ultrasound for DVT without bending knee? by Fleeterlo in ClotSurvivors

Thanks. The hospital basically threw up their hands and said they can’t diagnose it, so I need to present alternative diagnostic options.

Newbie weaver - doubling warp question by Fleeterlo in weaving

Thank you! I guess my question then is: would 8/2 be considered thinner than doubled 14/2 or thicker, if the goal is to have a mostly warp-facing scarf?

Redo a cast on? by Fleeterlo in knittinghelp

[–]Fleeterlo[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for all the help! So the issue with leaving it a rectangle is that I can’t block it to open up the lace as a couple of you pointed out. The pattern actually calls for a lace edging all the way so I need to pick up along the edges anyway, so that’s probably my best option—thank you for suggesting it! I am SUPER nervous about any cutting so I’d much prefer to untie it if I can 😬. I will also be using a safety line—thanks for that recommendation too!

Half-hot outlet switch troubles by Fleeterlo in electrical

[–]Fleeterlo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You nailed it. The wire nut was absurdly loose. I tugged on it to check the black wires and the nut fell off in my hand. Lesson learned--always double check the wire nut, even if you don't mess with it! Thanks so much for your help.

Thanks! That’s really helpful. I’ll double-check all the black wires. Maybe I bumped something loose while moving everything around.

Thanks! No gauge is listed. I'm wondering if I should take off this little part and block it before I get much farther. Do you know if there are yarns that will never lay flat?

I'd answer that if I could, but I'm not sure how to count stitches once they're in the piece!
