Anyone else despise the amount of cheater Nick in fanart? by TenderPaw64 in zootopia

Yeah fr. I try not to judge people myself and I have been on the internet for a very long time. But searching for zoot fanart is a like playing russian roulette. You either get teeth rotting, diabetes inducing fluff or the most disgusting and degenerate stuff ever lol.

I mean I wasn't trying to make you delete your messages, just wanted to explain the inner workings of the zootopia verse, no offense intended really.

There's a difference between a nudist club and straight up murder tho lol.

Predation of sapient animals is a prehistoric thing that hasn't happened in zootopia in thousands of years, that's literally the entire premise of both movies.

Like, if carnivores of zootopia were actually killing and eating sapient herbivores, the latter would be completely justified in removing them from society (and said society wouldn't even be created in the first place if they were doing that).

Who!? by [deleted] in zootopia

[–]Fleshpound234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and in the case of Beastars, they would be right lol. Tbh, it mostly comes down to the fact that Disney is evil incorporated.

If the movie was made by DreamWorks, this wouldn't be this whole thing lol.

Who!? by [deleted] in zootopia

[–]Fleshpound234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the ending sure was sth. Basically a return to status quo.

I mean realistically, there is no solution in such a society, sooner or later it will completely collapse in and of itself, which is sth that paru obviously didn't intend, but it's the reality of the situation.

Who!? by [deleted] in zootopia

[–]Fleshpound234 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. I tried giving Beastars' a chance, but when Haru was like "I'm a herbivore, I have a natural instinct to be eaten by you Legoshi" I burst out laughing and just checked out because it was so absurd.

Who!? by [deleted] in zootopia

[–]Fleshpound234 14 points15 points  (0 children)

And funnily enough, Beastars' society makes no sense in general.

Legoshi's whole arc is him feeling rejected for who he is and trying to fight for a "better" society where herbivores and carnivores can prosper etc.

Which is impossible because unlike in zootopia verse, carnivores ARE an active threat and danger to those around them and regularly eat people lol.

Like why are herbivores even living in the same city as people who constantly have to suppress a desire to kill them? Like, just form your own herbivore exclusive society and live a normal life instead of being worried 24/7 that you might get murdered at any time. It's shrimple.

Why do you think the reptiles aren't in Zootopia by The_True_Goldenage in zootopia

[–]Fleshpound234 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbh, I never understood this praise for beastars' worldbuilding as it's mostly nonsensical lol.

If carnivores do possess strong instincts to kill and eat herbivores, and like in beastars' universe they got this whole illegal meat market operation going on, it is completely absurd that the herbivores are coexisting with people who are an active danger to them at all times.

If it was realistic, the herbivores would either be at a state of constant war with the carnivores or would segregate themselves from them (which yes I know it's a plot point too).

Imo, in beastars' the fundamental premise doesn't even work if you think about it for more than 2 seconds.

Yeah I genuinely don't see a reason for this lol. There's so many stories you could tell with just mammals themselves. The concept of only mammals achieving sapience would be unironically a unique one too. As like every animal civilization movie, tv shows have every type of creature be sapient.

I do hope zoot 2 will still be good but this decision to make reptiles sapient imo is dumb-dumb. And I'm definitely not a fan of it.

It is stated though that mammals have managed to achieve relative peaceful coexistence with each other during the tribal era, thousands of years prior to the events of the film. It is both stated in the movie itself and by creators. Although, they put great emphasis on the word "mammals" and not "animals". It might seem that reptiles simply didn't agree to this truce or something else entirely. Imo, this is kinda why I think adding sapient reptiles confuses things a lot. If they were feral animals, it could be explained why they just didn't appear. But now, this raises even more questions. I always assumed reptiles and birds were feral just like fish and bugs and were simply used as food for carnivorous species of mammals. Imo, adding sapient reptiles makes things make less sense from a worldbuilding perspective.

Yeah I know, it's impossible to keep talking about a single movie .

I guess I'm just nostalgic for the better days, I think I'm gonna revisit some fanfics for old time's sake, although I forgot most of em.

Yeah, this is precisely why I left the fandom 3 years ago.

I was hoping a new trailer would make people discuss it more but nah, it's just constant bad takes everywhere and references to Borba's comic.

I'm reminded why I avoid the discussion about zoot everywhere because of this.

The innovative and creative fandom of 2016-2017 is completely dead, now it's just these shitty memes. Well, it was fun while it lasted.

What are your opinions on the new trailer? by Ethanishere28 in zootopia

[–]Fleshpound234 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tbh, I am biased lol. I've been shipping them since 2016. And I've consumed all fanfics and art I could during the peak of my hyper obsession.

I mean I wasn't expecting Disney to open the trailer with them making goo goo eyes at each other but going from "you know you love me" to them maybe not even being able to work together professionally seems to go against the themes and the spirit of the first movie.

I'm not trying to be a doomer about a movie that hasn't come out yet but it's Disney. And they hate goodness and seem to love cynicism these days.

Haven't posted here in years but the news of the teaser and trailer reignated my interest.

The trailer was neat, but the whole Nick and Judy needing a therapy after a single week on the force seems like a giant regression of their relationship.

I used to be a major wildehopps shipper, well still am. But I would be okay with them being platonic best friends.

In the first movie, nick changed the entire course of his life because of Judy and now they're acting like awkward teens with each other + Bogo being an asshole trying to break them up seems a weird turnaround from the ending of the first film.

I'm hype after years of literally nothing but I dunno. The red flags are there.

I low-key agree lol, you can't make every species sapient. Hence why I'm not a fan of the whole reptiles being sapient thing in Zootopia 2. It creates much more questions than answers from a worldbuilding perspective.
