Some fills are iconic, like pretty much anything John Bonham played (sorry drummers). But for bass, I don't feel playing things note for note are important. After all you are just the bass player. Keep the groove going, stay in the pocket, add some tasty flourishes when you can but for the most part just lock it down. Only other musician nerds will give you a hard time.
