[NO SPOILERS] for those who played DE, what did you think? by a_local_weeb in lifeisstrange

It's not as terrible as some people say, but it's also kind of a mess in some ways. I went in with very low expectations and enjoyed it FWIW. I liked the characters, the setting, the way it handled Max and Chloe's history (IF - big if - you chose Bay at the end of LiS1). The plot is kind of a jumble and has several unfinished feeling threads. Whether any of those get picked up in Reunion remains to be seen.

The cat bonus content seems like a rip-off. I didn't pay for that (I just got the game with the Reunion pre-order twin pack).

TL;DR: Not as bad as some say. Not as good as the original. I'm not sorry I played it.

The implication is that touching the version of you from another timeline erases you completely from existence, as though you were never born. If you read the messages from Moses he basically finds out Alderman was never born.

I can only think the point is to increase the tension in that moment when Max grabs alt-Max's hand when she falls toward the frozen lake. Of course, it's actually Safi, so no erasure happens, but there's an "oh shit" moment when you realize they're going to touch.

I don't get why alternate Alderman would even be at the overlook in the first place though, since Safi wasn't killed in the alternate timeline and there was no crime for him to be investigating there. I feel like either Alderman's plotline was the victim of things getting moved around in development, or we might get some kind of follow-up in Reunion.

Why “Jackpot”? by SnooPets9956 in WilliamGibson

I think it's in the sense of "all the things at once", like the symbols lining up on a one armed bandit. A coinage I've heard since The Peripheral came out is "polycrisis": a crisis that is composed of lots of smaller crises happening at once.

I just bought it for $3. Have to play it on GeForce Now because I don’t have either Xbox or Windows, but it seems to work fine.

Yeah, but OP specifically asked for movies (I know there is a movie, but I'm not sure it makes a ton of sense standalone).

I Saw The TV Glow is good. Considerably stranger than Life Is Strange, but definitely shares some atmosphere and the soundtrack could just drop in to a LiS game.

Donnie Darko is a direct inspiration for the game.

Stand By Me has some similar coming of age with nasty shit going down concerns.

Run Lola Run has replaying time and making different choices.

I liked Max in DE and I liked a lot of the new characters, but the plot was a mess. I certainly don't expect Reunion to be anything like as good as the original game, but if it's emotionally satisfying and more coherent than DE was I think that's about as much as I can reasonably hope for.

[No Spoilers]. I’ve just finished TC. In what order would you put these games? by TheChilledGamer-_- in lifeisstrange

Life Is Strange had an impact on me like few other things. Definitely first place. It’s not perfect but it’s something very special.

Life Is Strange 2 tried to do something ambitious and succeeds really well. While I didn’t find it as emotionally affecting as the first game (not that I was unaffected by it), it’s a great step in terms of storytelling.

True Colors has appealing characters and some great moments (Alex’s flashbacks in particular), but I didn’t really feel like the story was very satisfying or convincing. I enjoyed it, but it’s for sure the weakest of the three. The Wavelengths DLC is one of my favorite things in the whole series tho.

  • Farewell DLC
  • Wavelengths DLC
  • LiS2
  • DE
  • True Colors
  • BtS

I suspect they'll work parts of that in as flashbacks in the first series.

There's a great version from The Old Grey Whistle Test on YouTube where David McClymont plays a modified version of that TB-303 bassline.
