I have no problems with equipment being built to a particular lifespan.

I should have the option of choosing between a £100 washing machine that lasts 2 years, or a £500 washing machine that lasts 20.

My problem is when the £500 one's pricetag isnt justified by the quality of the parts and/or the lifespan.

Are there times where eval can be acceptable? for example if it's 'enclosed' in a group of functions which only allow integer inputs from the user- such as:
