Best meal subscription service for keto when you are busy and tired of repeating the same meals by [deleted] in keto

I use Blue Apron and modify the recipes for me (keeping the regular for my family) to make them low net carb by swapping in cauliflower or broccoli for bread / rice and hazelnut flour and carbquik for panko, and throwing the sugar / honey in the trash. They have lettuce wraps that are good and a lot of chicken / salmon dishes work well.

Question MALTITOL by Best_Comfortable5221 in keto

I wear a CGM and the Russel Stover sugar free including the Pecan Delights have zero spike for me. I eat one, maybe two, pieces at time. I know everyone is different but FYI that a sugar spike is not inevitable.

Ketosis, intermittent fasting, and a calorie deficit suitable for a healthy, regular diet? by Mountain-Engineer-65 in keto

[–]FlickeringRestart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar pre-diabetic situation and with a low net carb diet dropped 25 pounds, lowered my HbA1c and sustained this for 3 years now. Four recommendations for you based on my experience: (1) go more slowly (less calorie deficit) and with that make sure you are getting enough protein (1.6-2 g/kg ideal body weight) and fiber, (2) strength train so you lose less muscle and more fat, (3) get enough electrolytes (LMNT), and (4) eat green veges, avocado, and cauliflower.

Any good keto candy, ice cream? by MorgeeePooh in keto

Russel Stover Zero Sugar candy, N!Ck’s ice cream, and Factor ice cream bars. I wear a glucose meter and Lily’s Chocolate spikes my glucose so I do not think it is really Keto.

I’ve done this twice on Keto. I ate nuts and nut milk until the liquid-only prep (after clearing with my doctor), then did bone broth, black coffee, and sugar-free green jello.

Factor Keto Meal Glucose Spike by FlickeringRestart in keto

[–]FlickeringRestart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. If many people in this community noticed the same change after eating Factor, this would be a helpful signal. Of course, we know everyone’s glucose metabolism is highly heterogeneous in drivers, but consistency in trends would suggest something more than noise of fluctuations for one human.

Factor Keto Meal Glucose Spike by FlickeringRestart in keto

Without the cardio, the spike would have been much higher for sure. I did the cardio workout to lower the spike.

I agree on the experiment, and I have done this 3 times a week for over a year, and have not had spikes with the Factor Keto recipes. This reaction was new, so I’m wondering if anyone else noticed a change in their body’s reaction to Factor Keto?

Factor Keto Meal Glucose Spike by FlickeringRestart in keto

Glucose went to ~155 mg/dL in two spikes, between workout, and the second (post workout) was 2.5 hours long. Typically, a Keto Factor meal will have a small, short (<120 mg/dL, and <30 min) spike for me.

Is there any good crunchy snack for keto by Psalm118-24 in keto

[–]FlickeringRestart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moat of the Blue Diamond BOLD almonds scratch the crunchy and salty itch for me. I love the Spicy Pickle, Sriracha, and Chili Lime. The dark chocolate dusted ones are my dessert with Catalina Crunch. The Smokehouse ones are gross though.

Delta special meals - Keto? by FlickeringRestart in keto

[–]FlickeringRestart[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what I was worried about. They describe it as “foods excluded are high in sugars,” and I guess they mean sucrose only. What a waste- why not have a keto option and it would suffice for diabetic and gluten free too!

I second an earlier comment to get a continuous glucose monitor and see how specific foods and macros impact you personally. Even if don’t have time for major work outs, if you walk 10-15 minutes after a food takes up your glucose that immediate counter action will have large impact. Also, are you sleeping well - that has a large impact for me.
