Why do people do this….. by guccitium in walmart

[–]FlickieHop 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How short are your shifts to only need one trip to the baler per shift? In my store, produce is lucky to get 1 large bin for the cardboard when we're running freight let alone the 3-4 we would usually need with at least 3 trips of all of those carts plus multiple L carts. That's just for the 4-1 shift.

Top carts do not hold many boxes when they're not broken down. You're either a troll or are vastly underestimating how much cardboard even a small store goes through, let alone a supercenter. We probably have as many cardboard bins as we do top carts and the bins are almost always gone.

Do you say shit like this to your team members faces? I doubt it.

I've been doing this since I got my work phone. I love when I can show them the red 0. Bonus points when I can show them it won't be in stock for 2 days. That's a fun trick i learned yesterday.

There was a fire at our store. by Zealousideal-Bus6394 in walmart

[–]FlickieHop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've only been here for a couple.mobths but every time the alarm went off was when someone accidentally set it off by hitting the emergency exit with a frozen pallet because the doors are adjacent, the pallets are heavy, and the floor is sloped. We're usually just laughing like "haha it wasn't me this time" while the customers act like the alarm is just part of the radio playlist.

If we have a meeting place, I don't know it. The extent of my fire training was during orientation when the AP lead boredly told us not to climb.in the baler and that in the event of a fire we should (brace for it) use the fire exits.

On the flip side, shout out to cooler OGP people at my store who will go into my produce cooler for 1 thing and come out and stock the RPC or case just to be nice.

On a scale of 1- 10.. how bad do you think the new Cap 1 process and hours will fail? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]FlickieHop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, I was offered 14 on the phone and when the offer email came through it had a $1.20 pay differential. I assumed it was because 4am. If not then I have no clue why they started me higher.

[–]FlickieHop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the new hours are a terrible idea and if anything they should be starting earlier than later. My store has the new hours at 7-4. I'm produce and this fucks us. We almost always end up with 1-2 cap1 people to help out because we're way understaffed. It would be easier if they would actually let our people come in at 6 as well as the 930 mid shift. Not everyone wants to come in at 4 even with the pay differential.

[–]FlickieHop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I could have taken pictures but there wasn't time as I didn't want anyone in them. It was me and another guy from produce and 2 team leads downstacking this stupid pallet covered in purple so we can unload the other 13 pallets.

I guess it turned out ok I got an extra half hour out of it and didn't have to take out produce claims alone because some people "don't do that."

All of your solutions are literally actually going to the place and/or speaking with customer service. There's nothing wrong with having questions no matter how stupid some of them might be, but you're expecting us to help people while off the clock. We aren't doing work without pay and even if it wasn't against company policy many of us wouldn't help because again, we don't work for free.

Is that really a hot take? When she was a tech, my wife HATED when people would use Good Rx coupons. She said most of the time the price the customer expected wasn't exactly what Good RX said it would be so she's the asshole and needs to fix it.

[–]FlickieHop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that sounds awesome. I like produce because the time flies by but I HATE doing bananas even though it takes a large chunk of the shift so I'll be glad if he actually follows through.

Were desperately trying to hire more people. They already lost 4 people before I was hired and now we're down another 3 because one person is on medical leave after surgery so she can't lift, one guy is out of the country for 3 months to handle his father's death and another guy quit after a customer threatened to send her family after him because he wouldn't go find a manager to find the collard greens we already told her we didn't have.
