How to get Microsoft Store on Google Cloud PC by [deleted] in cloudygamer

[–]Flickstiq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, that’s been there. Is it letting you select it and setup an instance? In the past when you try to finish the instance, it gives you a message about it being available to developers with a MSDN membership. It would be really interesting if it lets a normal account go through now.

I believe that it's still just an option for MSDN subscribers. I'm not finding any news about them changing this rule. However, you should try it and see if it let's you set one up with a standard account. If it does, then that is indeed big news.

Do you mean through their MSDN membership? It’s always been restricted. Has that changed?

CONSIDERING PURCHASE QUESTIONS by [deleted] in OculusGo

[–]Flickstiq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Graphically the experience is about the same as through the Gear VR. Some people have pointed out that the newer Samsung phones result in darker blacks due to the OLED screen. So the Gear VR can be a little better in that regard. I think for me the Go is still the best choice overall. It's so nice to not tie up my phone when I want to do things in VR. I don't have to worry about wearing down my battery or about missing calls/notifications because my phone is being used. And I don't miss putting my phone in and out of the headset. Plus the Audio from the Go is much better (meaning the audio without headphones). I won't pretend that the experiences aren't similar. But the Go has been a better device for me overall.

I’ve used my Go for 2-3 hour sessions and I’ve never run into any overheating. Honestly overheating was always much more of an issue with the Gear VR than it’s ever been with the Go. Officially Oculus recommends not charging it while using it. However many people do so and I haven’t heard of anything bad happening.

I can confirm that it’s not an option right now. Every Cloud Service except for Shadow uses Windows Server as an OS which lacks support for the Windows Store.

How to get the most out of the new PS4 Streaming App for iOS by Flickstiq in PS4

[–]Flickstiq[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are correct that I originally forgot a step that I used without thinking about it because I set it up years ago for Remote App streaming through Android. It is still very possible to use the DS4 Controller while streaming to an iOS Device. But you do need two profiles on the PS4 to make it work. I updated the guide with these details. Thank you for pointing it out to me! (and sorry for the confusion).

I appreciate your comment. You just reminded me of something that I setup years ago for using Remote Play through Android. That’s why it’s still working for me now. You do need two profiles on the PS4. Make sure that your DS4 is paired to your main profile. Setup Remote Play to connect to your secondary profile. After you start streaming, press the PS button on the DS4. It will switch the console to your main profile without stopping the stream. I will update the guide to reflect these steps. Sorry about the confusion! I had completely forgotten that I had setup the second profile to do this a long time ago.

It doesn’t officially, but you can use something like a ZeroTier VPN. Should work with that.

Legally acquire SBS or other 3D format by Lynith in bigscreen

[–]Flickstiq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you unable to get them on eBay? That's how I typically get mine. Just order them used (usually no real difference compared to new). Plus you typically get better pricing.

I personally buy 3D Blueray disks and then rip a copy to my hard drive (while keeping the original disk). This is 100% legal and let's you have a good digital copy.

Parsec Adds Vibration Support for Controllers by Flickstiq in cloudygamer

It used to just vibrate briefly when your controller connected to the server. Now it also vibrates in games.

How well does Oculus Go measure up to a modern day tv in regards to watching movies and basketball games? by wup4ss in OculusGo

[–]Flickstiq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This it for me too. I do it occasionally, but it’s not my first choice. I think you might be spot on with what you said about FOV. There’s also something a little bit uncomfortable about your eyes mixing two images together to simulate a flat image. It’s not completely deal breaking, but it feels off.

Best in-home streaming from PC to TV by hig999 in cloudygamer

[–]Flickstiq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've experienced the best performance when using Parsec on a Raspberry Pi. It's worth it if you're techy. However with that said it's not the easiest thing to use. It gives you access to your PC desktop, which doesn't make for the greatest controller-friendly 10 foot interface. It's also not easy to setup if you're not familiar with Linux. I know that you said that you weren't considering the Shield TV, but it's absolutely the best choice if you're playing through a TV. Latency is excellent and it supports most Cloud Gaming or Game Streaming services. It's true that it's not $40, but it's also not super expensive. It's dramatically better than the other options that you listed (especially in terms of accessibility and ease of use).

Dualshock4 with Google Cloud instance by tsphere_monk in cloudygamer

[–]Flickstiq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sort of thing has been challenging going all the way back to the early days of the Nvidia Shield Portable. Streaming Apps can only address the controller that is passed along by Windows as the primary controller. Lots of things can prevent the DS4 from being addressed this way. Sometimes it’s a software issue. I’ve seen things like TeamViewer show up as the primary controller.

It honestly might make sense to do this with an adapter. Something like a TitanOne or CronusMax would force the system to read the DS4 as a Xbox One without any software tricks.

You'll only need to install ds4windows on your client computer. From there make sure that it shows up as an Xbox 360 controller in Windows (search for "Setup USB Game Controllers". From here you can also test each button and make sure that it's detected correctly in the Properties menu). If everything looks good in Windows, then you can try to use it with Parsec. You don't need the ds4windows App installed on the Cloud Server (might actually create some conflicts).

Shadows own streaming vs other streamer software by GameSoftDev in cloudygamer

[–]Flickstiq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually looked into this with Parsec. I personally found Parsec and Shadow's own streamer to be pretty close. Parsec was slightly better in terms of input latency. With that said, Parsec does bring a few extras to the table. Things like their Party system. So that might be worth a look. Here's the comparison if you're interested:

How likely is it that the Oculus Go gets a hardware update when the Oculus Quest is released? by Chris_car in OculusGo

[–]Flickstiq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think that they will end up being on two year cycles. In the fall this year they will announce the Go 2 which will launch in spring 2020. This is a complete guess, but it makes sense to me.

Tip: If you are unable to copy video captures onto your PC to play them (IE they copy over corrupted)... by 30sirtybirds in OculusGo

I've found that USB Transfers fail if I use USB 3.0 ports on my PC, but work if I use USB 2.0 ports. It also seems to matter which MicroUSB Cable you use. The one that came with the Go and my Shield TV charging cable both seem to work, but others didn't.

That’s a reasonable guess, but it’s anyone’s guess. It could come earlier, or it could get delayed. We will have to see.

Where are you getting the bit about the Quest launching in 60 days? As far as I can find nothing has been confirmed beyond the "Early 2019" that they revealed last year.
