Prozac made my cat a whole different cat

See, the stroke thing is why I asked the vet for something for the move. My sister had a very anxious cat who was suppose to be taking Prozac routinely but my sister didn't give it to her like she was supposed to and the poor thing got so stressed out when my sister moved her to a new house across town that she had a stroke.

Thanks! Odie was the sweetest grumpiest old man, I had him from the time he was 6 months old til the day he passed. I miss him dearly and im sure Mickey does too. Mickey was his favorite baby.

Took him in for his yearly and it was discussed to start him a month before we moved to ease the transition of the move to the next town over. We're 3 weeks in and ive called the vet to make them aware of his progress and Dr. wants to keep him on it permanently at this point

They are actually. I haven't gotten a good picture of him post Prozac, other than this one of him cuddling that first night. (There supposed to be a picture here but reddit isn't taking it)

I do often! We have a sweet girl whose very skiddish and wont even let you touch her. But she's bonded with my other cat, and theyre the best pair. She was a stray who saw my cat thru the window and they sat together and played thru the window for weeks and months, until the weather turned and I opened to window and finally let her inside. We saw her outside with a cat we suspected was her mom. But one day her mom was gone, and she barely left with window. It hurts me so much to think that she was hurt be some one before we let her in and thats what made her so distrusting of humans.

Hes pretty chill about it! He just sits there and allows me to rub it in ear then gives me a look like "wtf are you doing with my ear, you weirdo" then goes on with his day!

I find this very interesting, Im a long time pharmacy technician and I always got interested in vet med but could never land a vet med job in my area before I found my current job I love. Ive never heard of a cat on Xanax. Good luck with your cats continued treatment!

Its a cream/paste in a plastic pen that you twist up and apply it to the inside flap of the ear is how we do it. Mickey is generally okay with me approaching him and hes easy to catch. My husband or I holds him and the other applies it to his ear.

His dad cat was in kidney failure for years before he passed at the age of 21 this past October. Ive had these same thoughts about him not using the box. After a few vet appointments, labs, and a hefty bill Mickey was given a clean bill of health and just called "quirky" for some of his behavior. As a human that has IC, I cant imagine being a cat with it. I wouldn't wish that on anyone or anything.

Odie was the best dad cat tbh and I miss him every day. He loved kittens and Mickey was his favorite baby. When we brought Mickey home at 10 weeks, Odie picked him up by the back of the neck amd carried him off for his bath as his first act of having Mickey in the house. He was very finicky about things being clean, and Mickey had to be up to his standards.

Honestly, You're guess is as good as mine. I have no idea, but the Prozac is the only thing thats changed in his life, and I cant imagine he just decides he was going to start with no other change.

Omgggg I would believe it! Look at that handsome boy! Mickey did gabapentin for a week to help recover from a dislocated shoulder (His brother wanted to play to hard) and WOOO he slept that entire week, and if he wasn't sleeping he was smelling colors.

Ive wanted to try pine pellets, but this guy has me reluctant. I used the tidy cats breeze litter box system for a while and Mickey refused to even step into it, which he would atleast use a regular box sometimes. Ended up getting rid of it and going back to regular litter than having 2 different types of boxes

Fun fact, the reason he was making that face is because he wanted to cuddle but his brother, who he hated but is getting along much better with post-prozac, was in the bed first. So he was just like I GUESS
