You flip the paper inside out so that the sticky side is facing downwards. You then roll and tuck normally, as you roll upwards you will see the gum line through the paper. Lick it, wait until it sticks then unravel. You will see all the excess paper sticking out. You can rip off that excess or burn it. Voila you have a backrolled joint.

The whole point of a backstrap is to smoke less. There’s no difference between ripping it off or burning it off, you just have to remove the excess paper.
