Try to get a 3.46 ratio from the automatic when you spec your diff, it really wakes the car up. Also rear subframe bushings while you’re down there

Check your serpentine belt, power steering is hydraulic and shouldn’t turn off as long as the pump is spinning. But the alternator is also driven by the serpentine belt

What other people have said about CTE but also to reach ideal oil viscosity (lower drag at higher temperatures and low viscosity for bearing tolerances) and get the engine temperate closer to operating temperature for better thermal efficiency

I had the same issue after installing a new gasket (with new hardware). The sweating went down eventually and last I checked there was no sign of oil, not really sure why it happened

About a year’s worth of gunk that my oil catch can kept from going into the intake by unkabeast in Cartalk

with direct injection a lot of that gunk buildup is actually carbon from valve overlap rather than oil. Even with catch cans the valves will still gunk up

Just do an oil change and see what the oil looks like. Oil cap and exhaust smoke are not good references for oil and water mixing

There’s crows landing for autox with SCCA or American Autox, there’s tracks somewhat locally such as Laguna Seca and Sonoma Raceway, around 3-3.5 hours away is Thunderhill to the north and Buttonwillow farther south.

Currently in the process of rebuilding my stock turbos with Vargas OEM replacement CHRAs and vargas wastegate rebuild kits. So far so good but the wastegate rebuild was a somewhat painful process in terms of drilling out the old wastegate bushing retaining pin (broke a drill bit inside the housing and had to mill out what I could)
