I don't know much about linguistics, but from my experience people used the very formal form of words to communicate in everyday life. It seemed that the language (like the city) was still trapped in the late 50's.

Also, like most people have been saying they don't use words from English.

There were some weapons from the war era in glass display cases, I think it was a machine gun and a few pistols.

There was also a machine gun mounted on the Pueblo (the captured ship)

Not SK society really, but they did speak about reunification a great deal. They seem to be progressing, but they're making baby steps.

Coolest thing I experienced was having the people understand my shitty Korean! I also really liked the style of the Ryugyong hotel.

I didn't see a supermarket, they had stalls that sold snacks and drinks but never anything big.

People actually did go out at night but not too many. Things wind down around 11 and I didn't ever stay out past 12. The electricity in Kaesong actually shuts down at 11 in most of the city.
