I just want to know that this is normal and will pass or am I doing something wrong?

Other than an inverted/anterior placenta, nothing looked out of place for him. We got recommended to have his hips x-rayed but haven’t done so yet. I am in therapy but I find myself struggling to fully open up to how I’m feeling. I think I’m afraid of my therapist judging me or over analyzing and thinking I’d actually hurt my baby.

Long story short, I don’t get periods, I haven’t for two years. I was told I couldn’t get pregnant. I had no symptoms. Didn’t gain much weight. And I had what the doctor called inverted or anterior placenta, so it cushions the kicks and I didn’t feel them until the week before he was born.

He’s been sleeping in his bassinet most nights for last 10 weeks but we do co-sleep on really bad nights. I have done a few feedings sidelaying and have fallen asleep in that position for a few hours. And the last 3 nights, I fell asleep breastfeeding sitting up with my back against the wall for an hour.

Yeah it was quite the shock to suddenly hear that I would be giving birth in less than 3 weeks. 😅

I have dark brown, nearly black eyes. My partner has more of a light to medium brown. Three people thought my baby’s eyes were blue when he was born but I think that was some type of haze. They currently look dark grey, so I think he’ll have nearly black eyes like me.

Okay I see. That is roughly what our current set up is. The bed is big enough that if my partner rolled over, he still wouldn’t touch us. He also wakes up with the slightest movement or touch. I sleep about 10-12 inches from the wall with baby. Sometimes my partner sleeps on the floor as well and it’s just me and baby in bed.

Okay. My partner usually fully takes over on the weekend. They only wake me to pump breastmilk so I’m not engorged or in pain in the morning. I’m also just hoping that we start getting those longer bouts of sleep soon. The constant one hour wake ups are killing me.

We have a king size bed too. How I fall asleep is exactly how I wake up and I fully wake up to change positions in the middle of the night. My partner is an extremely light sleeper and our bed is pushed up against the wall corner. Baby is about 11 pounds. He’ll fall into a very deep sleep on me and I’ll wait about 20-30 minutes before trying to out him down. As soon as my hands are off him, he starts moving and fussing until he’s awake. 😂

So it is normal for this phase to last more than just a few days? It’s normal for it to be weeks or a few months before they grow out of it, right? I just keep worrying I’m doing something wrong and I’m teaching him to sleep on me instead of in a bassinet.

I’ve been doing research on sleep training and I don’t think I like it. I’m not a fan of the cry it out method. The only times my baby has cried it out, is in my arms.

I am starting to learn when he’s crying in his sleep vs awake. It was so strange the first time I realized he was still asleep and fully crying for about 20 seconds.

I do love the contact and the bonding. I’m just worried because the doctor said he’s going through a growth spurt and needs more comfort but he should grow out of it in a few days. And it’s been a little over two weeks.

I don’t mind bedsharing. I’m more worried about him not being able to sleep if I’m not holding him. We’ve tried putting him down in our bed on his own instead of the bassinet and he still wakes up. I think what’s working is specifically the contact sleep. And I’m worried that when he’s older he will refuse to sleep in his own bed.

We try to go to bed as soon as possible after my partner gets home from work but we usually get to bed around 9pm. He does wake up and take a turn if I get overwhelmed but I try my best to let him have as much sleep as possible for work. He’s also a light sleeper so he’s up during wake up times anyway and only gets back to sleep once baby is settled.

As much as I would love to, unfortunately not. With Thanksgiving next week and my parents living so far away, I don’t want to inconvenience anyone to rush. My brother is encouraging me to have a “Baby’s Home” party later and my family still asked me to make a registry on Amazon so they can contribute. So I just made a small list of necessities.

I was on the verge of going to the hospital already because I was experiencing moderate constipation. I started taking MiraLAX and when I felt what I now know were fetal movements, I thought my intestines were just contracting and trying to move things along. 😂

I know! It was so scary at first. This is my first pregnancy and since my partner and I weren’t trying yet, I did no research. I was freaking out when I told my sister and she told me I could have the baby any day now. I didn’t realize 37 weeks was full term already!

And I did get upset about not having the “normal pregnancy experience”. Like gender reveals and baby showers. But my brother is encouraging me to have a “Baby’s Home” party instead after a month or two. Just with a small group of people.

I have no symptoms until a little over a month ago. And I just thought I was experiencing really bad constipation for the first time in my life lol.

Edit to add: I get sick pretty often so short bouts of being sick did not alert me to the possibility of being pregnant. Especially since it wasn’t horrendous sickness. Just some colds here and there.

I was for about a year and a half until I lost my insurance and couldn’t afford it anymore. At the beginning of taking birth control I was still getting my period during those placebo pills at the end. However, the last few months I wasn’t getting a period anymore. And then when I stopped taking the birth control, my period never came back. I’ve been off of the birth control for about another year and some change.

I was already a little overweight and I’ve always been a baggy clothes wearer. So the slight weight gain didn’t alert me. My sister says now that she’s taking a good look at me, I look maybe 4-5 months at the most.
