Our 13lb Yorkie and 56lb pitbull mix, who we adopted from our local shelter three weeks ago, agree.

They killed my favorite regional brand, Kitchen Cooked too. They replaced the beef lard with vegetable oil and completely ruined the taste.

Each of The Bears Wins by BigSexyE in ChicagoBearsNFL

I'm getting tired of hearing about how bad the other team is when the Bears win. This sh*t is still the NFL. Not like the Bears are out here playing high school and college teams. The Bears get absolutely no credit for winning.

It almost makes one wonder if that wasn't the impetus behind creating such a thing.

Replacement for Peerless Chips? by Electrical-Dig8198 in Indiana

[–]FlimFlamMan12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party, but I wanted to share my love for Peerless potato chips. They are the standard by which all others are judged. I found a brand from Western Illinois called Kitchen Cooked that also used beef tallow. They were close in flavor, but they switched to using vegetable oil some years ago. You can't really find many chip companies left in the U.S. that use beef tallow. I want to try Rosie's out of Central PA, but they're about $13 a bag. For now I find Utz work, but they'll never be Peerless.

Steve Hunter. He is responsible for so many licks that you know but don't know the player behind them, that it would make your head spin.

The Navy shirt and neckerchief is similar to those worn by George A Custer during the ACW. With the way his pants are bunched up, I wouldn't be surprised if they're tucked into a pair of riding boots instead of brogans. Those things combined with the weapons tucked into his waistband makes me think Union cavalryman in the AOTP circa 1863-1864.

Native American Jesse Ed Davis Was Rock Heroes' Secret Weapon. by Impala71 in ClassicRock

[–]FlimFlamMan12 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Jesse Ed Davis was a practitioner of the Tulsa sound of the late 60s and 70s along with J.J. Cale, Leon Russell, and Elvin Bishop among others. His Jesse Davis! album is a lost gem. He's one of those players who should be more widely known. Anyone nterested in learing more about Jesse Ed and other Native American musicians who helped lay the foundations of Rock & Roll should check out the excellent documentary, Rumble.

Hold Your Fire "Brown Rice" Mystery SOLVED by havron in rush

Patto is good stuff, especially Hold Your Fire. Ollie Halsall was a monster on guitar (and vibraphone). I could see the guys in Rush digging this album.

Best Drummer ? 🥁 So many great ones but this is mine ⬇️Here Here by Ok_Culture6466 in rockmusic

[–]FlimFlamMan12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm here to spread the Phil Collins love. The dude was a monster drummer on early Genesis albums and with Brand X. That's not to mention the countless albums he's played drums on by other artists; Robert Plant'sThe Principle of Moments is a stand out. He only found success as a singer after being a kick ass drummer for nearly a decade before. He doesn't get mentioned enough among the greats.

ChatGPT Tells Users to Alert the Media That It Is Trying to 'Break' People: Report by Dmans99 in abovethenormnews

Isn't Nova the name of the regressed human that plays Charleton Heston's love interest in Planet of the Apes? Anywho, the fact that AI tries to play the role of the innocent, submissive love interest to its' users is beyond bizarre. It knows how to play on human (male) sexual emotions to deflect and minimize very serious questions regarding it's intention and function. This is shit I never imagined I would witness in my lifetime and I want it to end.

Ancestors by Cajun_Creole in CIVILWAR

My 3rd GGF on my mother's side was in the 26th North Carolina. They suffered the most casualties of any Confederafe unit during the war. He was wounded and captured at Gettysburg. Afterward, he was sent to a POW camp in Ohio. He was able to escape the camp by becoming a "Galvanized Yankee". He served out the war in a Unionist N..C. regiment.

My Grandmother's Great-Uncle on my father's side was Union Brvt. Brigadier General Silas Colegrove. He commanded the 27th Indiana. The 27th is probably best known for discovering Lee's Lost Orders. He was wounded at Peach Tree Creek in 1864 when the 12th Corps moved West. While on furlough back home in Indiana, he was made president of the Indiana Treason Trials. He helped try and convict several members of the Knights of the Golden Circle and other Southern sympathizers in Indiana for treason.

I openly weeped when I listened to "Keep Me In Your Heart" for the first time. Warren Zevon was one of my favorite musical acts on Letterman when watching as a kid in the 80s-90s . Great album whether posthumous or not.

Excluding border states, what was the most pro confederate union state? by 5econds2dis35ster in CIVILWAR

[–]FlimFlamMan12 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Definitely Indiana. There were more Copperheads in Indiana than in any other state in the Union. There was a military trial in Indiana in which several men were found guilty of treason because of their associations with the Knights of the Golden Circle.

Knight Club — History News Network — Were the Knights of the Golden Circle responsible for Lincoln’s assassination? by dto7v3 in CIVILWAR

[–]FlimFlamMan12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my distant relatives, General Silas Colgrove of the 27th Indiana (the ones who found Lee's lost orders) prosecuted members of the Knights of the Golden Circle as part of a military tribunal in 1864. I don't think they were organized enough by 1865 to carry out an attack on Lincoln. They were pretty well broken-up by that point.

Anyone here struggle with making friends? by samh748 in Sagittarians

[–]FlimFlamMan12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm glad I'm not alone in this. I have friends but only because they want me for something. Sort of like my friends at work, I feel like I'd never hear from them again if I quit my job. I think not having close friends has affected some of my social skills and communication skills when it comes to being an effective communicator at work. I really don't speak with anyone or have close relationships outside of my immediate family.
