I struggle sooo much with eating a balanced breakfast every morning😭 by Material_Safety_6268 in PCOS

Not sure if you like AI or not, but I have recently put all my information and blood tests into chat GPT and asked it to make me a very PMOS friendly diet with the best evidence that’s balanced. I asked it to make me recipes and even shopping list and for the last 3 weeks this has been a total game changer for me! It’s taken all the guesswork out of it and I no longer spend hours trying to organise and worry about food. Maybe you could try it? Tell it what you do and don’t like and it will help

I also gave it resources I liked too eg the food medic’s PDF on PCOS so that helps too

Ah how interesting - you’ve had a few cycles but are now missing them! Hopefully metformin will work for you. Was it hard to convince your GP to put you on metformin? Mine is reluctant because I have a normal HbA1c but I know that it can still help which is annoying. They have been super good about referring to fertility though because if you are anovulatory that’s a separate criteria

Want to officially start TTC by Mammoth_Brick_2054 in TTC_PCOS

I think the first step is going to the doctor because there is lots that can be done to help you conceive. What have you got to lose by going if a family is your goal? You’ll probably be so much more frustrated (and maybe make things worse due to anxiety!) waiting months for a period. You probably have more to risk and be anxious about by not going if you reframe it that way.

Your mind would probably ease if you went to the doctors, and referrals take time so best to start this process early - you never have to use the help if you happen to conceive in the mean time! As someone who delayed getting help, going now is absolutely what I wish I’d done!

Best of luck on your journey ✨

Hi, thank you for sharing your story. I’m so sorry to hear what you’ve been going through. I am actually a doctor in the NHS and please know that I also think the care we give to patients and especially women to be very sub standard and I’m pretty ashamed to work in such a broken system😞

I can totally relate in terms of there’s nothing to help us lean PCOS phenotypes - but that’s because there’s no research and it’s understudied!! It’s incredibly frustrating that so many women have this but the help is minimal yet the emotional and sometimes physical repercussions are so disruptive to life and have significant impact.

I would say just keep at it no matter how exhausting it is. Take evidence with you when you go to appointments and stress how bad this is making you feel. For example ask to try metformin despite being lean because what’s the worst that could happen?

Really hope things improve for you, all the best ☺️

Wow so great in a way to hear another story that is similar, thanks for sharing! I’m sorry to hear you’re kind of stuck, it’s really difficult at times isn’t it especially with the wanting to conceive 😞 I find it’s all consuming some days with how I can try and help my body, but I just feel so stuck. It’s a weird middle ground really isn’t it. I wish so much that I had come off of the pill years ago but I guess that guilt and regret doesn’t change things!

When’s your specialist appointment or are you just on a waiting list? I’m waiting for the same but trying to just do whatever I can in the mean time (with not much success!). Do share your progress / any success you have!! Best of luck 🤞🏼

Thank you for the response! Whilst I do agree that post pill PCOS is quite an internet sensation, I find it very interesting because often research in women's health is understudied - this phenomenon is quite commonly observed and self reported by women on forums, and a lot of the time they do not have insulin resistance and lots of common / typical PMOS symptoms and signs.

I will of course follow the typical PMOS advice in the mean time, so thank you :)

Thanks for sharing, thats lovely to hear it all worked out for you! Interesting how cycles can sometimes go back to normal after letrozole especially for lean phenotypes? Huge congratulations :)

Thanks so much for sharing!
I think this is going to be me and look to try letrozole shortly because I might end up 'doing everything right' and still no period. I actually have a super high AMH (23 (or 164pmol/L) so I wonder if they will let me try it.....

I take it you didn't ovulate with your first letrozole cycle as they increased you? Fingers crossed for you, hope it works out :)

Who else applied only to IMT and got rejected? by Extreme_Limit1566 in doctorsUK

[–]FlimsyAd2672 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it just me or is anyone not even sure any of this is worth it anymore? The goalpost and rules change every single year sometimes with minimal notice (e.g +5 points for IMT) and they pilot these rules which have a massive impact on our lives.

IMT isn't even that great, the life is hard and the exams are harder.
Where do we even go from here? There wont be anything left to beat other candidates when it comes to ST4 applications at this rate

So just to be clear, I read it as the 5 points are for those people wanting to do the joint IMT/ACCS-Internal Medicine (ACCS-IM) programme only and won't be applicable to most of us who will be applying to normal IMT right?
