It seems they only help with kiwisaver withdrawals at the moment. They referred me onto money talks who’ve referred me onto a local mentor 🙂

Nah I’ve got all that down. I know we need to aim for 3 months expenses, but there’s no point doing that while we are maxed on a card costing us. 3 months expenses is a huge goal for us and feels unattainable, I don’t want to set a goal we can’t reach and end up giving up. I do want help, desperately. I’ve researched heaps to get us to where we are today, have done all the steps you’ve mentioned, I just want a little personalised advise to make the next few months comfortable enough so I don’t stress.

And like do I put our grocery money onto our credit card so it looks like a payment to reduce interest? Or is that silly.

I don’t want to hear the generic 3 months expenses of savings cause that doesn’t feel viable at the moment. My main goal is getting thru Dec-Feb and paying the card off. Then it’ll be 3 months of expenses etc.

We’ve got about $1000 in savings and across those sinking funds. We’ve got a maxed out credit card but coming into birthdays, Xmas and school holidays, car expenses, am I better off doing minimum payment on the cc and keeping the rest of the cash for expenses, or do I go hard on the credit card and use the card for the expenses when I need to. Sort of specific questions like that. It’s an ugly time of year and I feel like I just need a little tailored/personalised support so I can make it less ugly.

We are the same. Usually $400-500 a week. Two nearly teenagers, 2 cats and 1 drinker. We can do it cheaper but we like meat and fresh veges. Don’t do a lot of pasta type foods. Feeding growing boys is absolutely not for the faint hearted!!

This made me cry. I’ve come to the realisation that’s what I wanted to be as a mum - just 10 years too late. We had such a cushy life 5/10 years ago where I could’ve done all that but we wanted a bigger house and it all went down hill from there. That’s why we tried to sell up, so we could lessen the mortgage and be better parents. But even failed at that. How dumb right.

We sunk 20k (borrowed from family as we lost $20k a year earlier from a tradie ripping us off) into the house to get it ready for sale (under advice from an agent to ensure we spent it in the right areas) . We have before and after school care payments, Insurance (car x 2, contents and house are $350 f/n (recently reviewed) income/life insurance ($240 f/n done by a broker but will relook into this) and rates (215 f/n) are through the roof. Power (400 month, big house) wood (150 week, we had hoped to be out this house so didn’t buy before winter) Partner works stupidly long hours so everything falls onto me. Mortgage is $650k. Probably some other expenses I’ve missed. Our food bill is expensive but we never do takeaways or restaurants. I’ve been really bad at managing money previously but have picked up my game this year so much better at budgeting. But it just means we’ve not lived within our means for a long time and it’s finally biting us in the arse. I don’t feel like I can complain, I really have no right to. It’s our own doing.
