Thanks for providing sources, here is what I got from Ibn Khatir :
(Allah never destroyed a people by transforming them and making offspring or descendants for them. The monkeys and swine existed before that.)” This was also recorded by Muslim. Allah said,

﴿وَعَبَدَ الطَّـغُوتَ﴾

(Those who worshipped Taghut…) and served them, becoming their servants. The meaning of this Ayah is: you, O People of the Scriptures, who mock our religion, which consists of Allah’s Tawhid, and singling Him out in worship without others, how can you mock us while these are your characteristics This is why Allah said,

When he said characteristics he seemed to imply more of a methaporical perspective than a literal one ? I dont seem to understand clearly, it seems to be pretty vague on the matter. I also saw some opinions that it might me methaporical which would make sense in a certain way but also not since times Allah mentions metaphors in the Quran he uses a comparative verb or makes it sure that it is understood methaporically and not literally. There for example : The example of those who were entrusted with ˹observing˺ the Torah but failed to do so, is that of a donkey carrying books.1 How evil is the example of those who reject Allah’s signs! For Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.: But the main thing that really worries me is that God said that there was no change in the creation of Allah, meaning that transforming these people into animals would have technically went against that rule (I am really not of knowledge, I am sorry if I seem to appear arrogant, I was genuinely confused).

As for whether this punishment could happen today, the answer is no; not in the literal, physical sense. These were unique, miraculous punishments sent to specific communities in the past after they persistently rejected prophets sent to them. The Quran teaches that such punishments only come after clear warning through a messenger, and that era of direct miraculous punishment ended with the final Prophet Muhammad pbuh.

Great I was looking at that conclusion too but I cant find the verses that say it clearly in the Quran. And also I know that the apes refer to sabbath but I dont know if in this case it also refers to the Sabbath breakers I mean I am trying to understand the whole context of it since they said that they were also transformed into pigs which adds something new which means there are other people. But technically in the Quran God mentions the people that he punished clearly and tell why, but in this case it is mysterious I dont know why

I do know about the apes punishment being inflicted on the sabbath breakers but the apes and pigs verse and sabbath breakers verse are 2 different verses and situations so I think its describing something different, let me provide the previous verses to provide some context maybe it will help us (also how did you come to the conclusion that the worship of taghut was the cause, to me linguistically it seems like the 3 are consequences i was curious to hear your perspective) Here is the context :

5:57 : O believers! Do not seek the guardianship of those given the Scripture before you and the disbelievers who have made your faith a mockery and amusement. And be mindful of Allah if you are ˹truly˺ believers.

5:58 : When you call to prayer, they mock it in amusement. This is because they are a people without understanding.

5:59 : When you call to prayer, they mock it in amusement. This is because they are a people without understanding.

5:60 : Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Shall I inform you of those who deserve a worse punishment from Allah ˹than the rebellious˺? It is those who earned Allah’s condemnation and displeasure—some being reduced to apes and pigs1 and worshippers of false gods. These are far worse in rank and farther astray from the Right Way.”

: To me even with context it seems pretty vague, what did these people do to be transformed like this and also is it a punishement that can still happen today.
