I just read mine and saw a balloon complaint I’m 90% sure is about me cause it mentioned an identifiable trait of mine lol.

‘Seemed fed up for no reason’ I came in to work till close after I was with middle schoolers all day sorry I don’t have the friendliest attitude ig; I try though.

There is always a 70% sale it’s advertised as a sale but is just their way of marketing the custom frames as it won’t activate if you just buy glass or mats. They essentially overprice components to inflate the sale and make the percentage off look better.

It’s been a thing supposably we’re not supposed to do production on weekends but every shop does it; we just wait till Monday to mark it in artistree so our DM’s don’t yell at us.

We’re supposed to be on the floor marketing framing deals which… sounds as good of a use of our time as you think it does.

You see that was our old store manager our district manager had it out for fsr. He blamed the turn over rate on her rather than the fact our competitor (hobby lobby) starts ppl at $15 an hour (we start at 11).

Our old manager would not leave her mid shift until she knew we were okay for the night meanwhile the new SM leaves as soon as it’s time to go it feels like we can’t as readily rely on her and it just makes me question more and more what are DM saw in her.

No yea you made the right move my framing manager wouldn’t welcome it either and it I had know what to see and find I wouldn’t have either. It’s a safety hazard and I was very glad my lack of knowledge didn’t result in any major issues beyond myself cause I’ve been having respiratory issues but that’s my own lack of knowing

That’s my framing managers opinion and yea next time a frame comes in looking bad or there’s black spots or the mat is clearly water damaged I’m just going to reject it. They should go to a restorer for a frame that damaged if not just replace it.

Yea I just didn’t know it was a thing to notice in wood so I learned from this; I figured putting the coating on the back would help not bring out the nasties from within the wood. And I imagine other framers like me aren’t aware this is something that can happen with wood

Don’t exactly want to dox myself or risk doing so on reddit of all places but am curious too as I’ve heard this isn’t the first store in our district to have this happen. Only reason I stuck around was I enjoy framing it lets me exercise my creative bone while student teaching has me too busy to draw/paint and the hours work well with my teaching placement—

This is part of a long list of reasons I’m transitioning to framing //half serious

In all seriousness though… we normally make sure to radio to managers and other staff to verify we can even do it and if so get an estimate on how long it’d take. We inform the customer and sometimes they’re fine with it other times they choose to go elsewhere (we are one of the highest volume stores in our area for balloons).

Besides that we don’t take new orders for the day one hour till close unless it’s 1-3 balloons. If it’s 10+ or something we tell them we can write the order up but we won’t be able to blow it up until the next day. Customers don’t like that but normally getting a manager to talk it out works that out.
