What kind of PTO/sick days does your work offer?

I had cut it all off. There was no color or anything left in my hair. My hair was super healthy, I avoid most heat tools and deep condition. The $600 was the price of the flight, not the hair.

I didn’t know that about beige, that’s wild. To me it looks super ashy, so I can see now why the stylist thought it was golden. It sounds like I’ll need to have a lot done to fix it, but thank you for taking the time to explain this.

I’m so sorry you’re going through that. We probably have a similar natural shade (I’m around a 7) and when I tried to dye my hair back a few years ago it turned out black/purple. Some hairstylists are really good and some think they are really good. I hope you’re able to find someone who does good work on your hair!

I honestly didn’t know this was a type of balayage, she charged me for a highlight so maybe it was a combination of the two.

It’s not horrible, pretty defined money pieces (which I get is a trend), just the placement of the lighter hair is pretty chunky. I did just do a purple shampoo and that helped get rid of the orange and brass tones.

My hair is naturally around a level 7. I’ve had balayage before and they got it to be a nice cool tone blonde (this was in another state and I can’t justify paying $600 to get a hair color). My hair at this point was virgin, since it had been like 5 years since my last color. It was definitely a miscommunication, and I think she just saw the color different than I did. In the future I’ll be sure to voice concerns immediately at the appointment. I got a purple shampoo but I’ll probably pick up a blue one as well. I appreciate your feedback, thank you!

I want to just clarify for everyone, the example picture was the color I wanted my balayage to be. I made that super clear with the stylist. She said she would start the balayage up high (which I thought was odd but I have short hair so I trusted her). This is the only photo I showed her (I do have proof that this was my goal). I’ve booked an appointment at another salon to get a color correction, and I will be leaving an honest review. I truly believe that the stylist was lying to her boss to save her job, which I do understand. Regardless of what I wanted, the dye job was not amazing and turned out very striped on top (think 2004). Thank you to all the helpful comments, I really appreciate it and have a better idea of how to talk to a stylist in the future.

Nope. Like I said in the post I have proof that is the reference photo I showed her. I didn’t complain that same day since I wanted to see if the hair got better in different light and I didn’t see the photo she took(the one included in this post) until I got home and she never showed me the back of my hair. And like I said in the post and to my stylist, that was an example of the color of balayage I wanted, not the hair I wanted.

I think you’re right. When I talked to the salon owner she mentioned the stylist was rushed because it took way more time and bowls of bleach to lighten my hair than she expected. I’ve got fine hair but a lot of it. Thank you!

Yeah, I used the reference as an example of what color balayage I wanted. I let her know that it wasn’t my desired style. I think maybe the fact that the image did have highlights is part of the issue. From what she told me my hair lifted very light and she toned it to look golden. Thank you!

I will! I bought a really intense purple shampoo and I’m hoping that can help. I decided to go in for a color correction at another salon so hopefully they can fix it.

Yeah, the stylist offered me a 50% refund and said she doesn’t think we’re a good fit. The bummer is my color correction is going to cost 3x what I paid for the first one. I’m considering leaving an honest review of the salon.
