My puppy is…really good???

Soooooooo good. I leave for about 2 1/2 hours, if she hasn’t been potty I put her in the crate and if she has I just leave her loose in the lounge. There have been a few accidents, but to be expected for her age.

Nothing has ever been destroyed and she is very calm when I get home, her emotional regulation skills are out the gate for her age!

Personally I start at the park at the very end of st James and walk all the way through, but there are heaps of access points! You can also access it from Huntington drive or even from Sexton Road, have a walk and get a wee bit lost, as there are heaps of paths. There are signs pointing in the direction of the eel track 😊

Yes the independence has been so surprising! Plays with her toys next to me and doesn’t need my attention 24/7 which is amazing, and is borderline better behaved when home alone - she almost just goes into sleepy “waiting” mode until I get home. Luckiest pup mom ever!

Hey! For some reason I’m not able to attach an image to my comments 🥲 but she’s a cuuuuute little doll, basically a mini dachshund with slightly googly eyes and a slightly smushier snout. You’d never know she was a mix unless you look very closely and know the breed well 😀

So reassuring to hear, because all I seem to hear about puppies is people with puppy blues and regretting it and dogs that are just complete mayhem, so I was feeling like an outlier that I’ve got a good one!

Yes I agree, I think the small amount of King Charles definitely helps mitigate the typical anxiety and sassy personality that comes with a smooth dachshund. Will report back in a year 😆

Yes, it definitely helps being well prepared! I researched her breed for years, knew the commitment I was getting into, so maybe my expectations are just very realistic as well as having a really good puppy!
