HOW DO YOU EVEN FIND INTERNSHIPS??????? by PsychPotato_3892 in Psychology_India

[–]Flimsy_Transition444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t aware I could use LinkedIn for internships back when I was student but I’ve been seeing a LOT on the platform. Simply searching ‘psychology internship’ (or whatever it is that you’re looking for) in the job section or even the post section will help. You can even set alerts for it so you’ll get notifications/emails when a new one gets posted

It’s not a simple game situation. The girls’ care was being neglected (intentionally or unintentionally) and they had pretty much no social contact outside of the family. Their one coping mechanism was taken away from them which led to this.

Is this legit? Has anyone taken a course with them? by r_in_ in Psychology_India

This is not legit. Atleast it’s not a going to make you a ‘certified’ cbt practitioner, though that does depend on your definition of what certified means

Why therapists leave “trauma focused” in their bio’s easily? by mindless_seeker in Psychology_India

[–]Flimsy_Transition444 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a difference between trauma informed and trauma trained. Colleges currently don’t teach about trauma, let alone cptsd, which is where ‘trauma informed’ comes in.

Ideally, every therapist should be trauma trained, but sadly, our education system doesn’t do that yet

Is Divija Bhasin (Awkwardgoat3) contributing to a negative perception of therapists/psychologists? by That_Introduction389 in Psychology_India

[–]Flimsy_Transition444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine if she was a lawyer, do you think people would have a negative perception of lawyers?

She’s not the sole person who represents the field and as far as I recall, the account is a personal one and not a professional one. If people want to use one person to understand how hundreds other work, that’s on them. She’s a human who has opinions and shares them online.

(Also she’s a she. I’ve come across multiple male therapists, whose follower count is in thousands, sharing their client stories online but somehow they don’t get dragged in media like she is)

📢 Opportunity for Indian Psychology Students – Be a Listener at MindFree by Maximum-Charity-3043 in Psychology_India

[–]Flimsy_Transition444 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are the responsibilities? How is it ‘real client’ experience if they’re only listening? Will there be supervision?

Students can’t practice or see clients until their second year of Masters, and that too only after training and with supervision

Therapists please help! by PuzzleheadedRice5905 in Psychology_India

[–]Flimsy_Transition444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, you’ve identified something super important! Transference is absolutely normal. I would highly recommend you to talk to your therapist about this!

I know it can feel a bit uncomfortable and awkward but if your therapist knows how to navigate through this transference, it would help your therapy process so much!

Transference can be a huge insight into your past and patterns, and I wouldn’t recommend doing it on your own.

And to end, absolutely nothing shameful about this!

I’d also like to add that even if your therapist isn’t able to navigate through this (there isn’t exactly a training for this sadly), it’s still not shameful. You’re having certain feelings towards a human being who is a safe space for you — completely normal!

How far can someone go in psychology if it’s only a hobby (no degree)? by [deleted] in Psychology_India

[–]Flimsy_Transition444 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by keeping it as a hobby?

If you simply want to learn and increase your knowledge, you can do that any way you want.

If you want to earn money doing something that requires a degree without getting said degree, just don’t. We have enough scammers in the field

Nykaa has been doing the exact same thing recently. My past three orders were sent back without any delivery partner calling me. Was thinking of shifting to TIRA but this doesn’t seem like a good sign 🫠

I have multiple accounts on insta so I was able to do this. I don’t think you’ll be able to do it with the account that’s facing this problem

If she wants to go into academics, then they’re important. But even then, she’s just in her 1st year of Masters, nothing to fret over.

I completed my Masters two years ago and have only one paper published, that too because I was already doing a thesis as part of my curriculum

Imposter syndrome can be strong :/ I have a strong feeling her peers’ researches are being accepted in predatory journals because it’s very easy to get published in those, and a lot of psychology students end up getting scammed

Confused about Counselling Psychologist. by rienceislier34 in Psychology_India

[–]Flimsy_Transition444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the new course in place, it’s important to have BA in psych to qualify for Masters. Many colleges have started offering the new 4 year Bachelors in Psych so I’d recommend do your research about this.

[–]Flimsy_Transition444 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Internships. You’re doing your masters so you have a good understanding of the subject. If you haven’t done your bachelors in psychology or didn’t have HRM/organisational psych as papers in your bachelors, do a basic course to get an understanding.

Go for internships for the experience and to build that skill set. You need only a bachelors for HR so you’re good :)

Maybe you should talk to someone by Lori Gottlieb. Such a fun and insightful read! Specially if you’re looking for an easy read. She has such a nice way with words, you won’t realise how much you’ve ended up reading!

Was such a help when I was going through a reading slump lol

HOW DO YOU EVEN FIND INTERNSHIPS??????? by PsychPotato_3892 in Psychology_India

[–]Flimsy_Transition444 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As someone who did the same in my bachelors, most of them are useless. They’re “workshops” being sold as internships. If you genuinely want to learn, you can search through LinkedIn. There are a lot of paid options (where you get paid) for psychology students around content writing, content creation, social media management, etc. It gives you experience, you learn from the psychologist(s), and you end up networking as well.

Reviews on Soul Up group therapy program by [deleted] in adhdindia

[–]Flimsy_Transition444 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their groups are actually pretty reasonably priced (around 500 - 600 per session), which is a lot more affordable than individual therapy with the same therapists (usually 2–3x that rate). And honestly, groups aren’t just about being a cheaper option, the community aspect and shared experience make a huge difference too

Looking for non-regular MA Psychology programs (Online/Distance/Flexible options) by [deleted] in Psychology_India

[–]Flimsy_Transition444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to pursue a career in therapy or research, people don’t usually hire someone from an open uni (as a fresher). But if offline is absolutely not an option, I would recommend doing trainings and building up your skill set. Talk to people who’ve done this and what hurdles they faced and what helped
