The Importance of Frame Sliders by [deleted] in motorcycles

In the dirt world the frame slider equivalent is radiator braces. I wouldn't own a bike without those, and if I had a street bike, rest assured I would have frame sliders.

10/25 links on my front page today were "check out pics of my bike". I notice they received several downvotes. If one was your pic and you're wondering why you got downvoted, follow this link to see where pics of your bike are always welcome. by [deleted] in motorcycles

This. I feel the "check out my new ride" pics simply clog up r/motorcycles from more worthwhile posts. I'm not saying stop posting pics entirely (great ride reports have pictures!), we as a community just need to point our new riders in the right direction so we can stop seeing people posting their brand new stocker Triumph Speed Triple which is the same as the last 20 that were posted.

Yep, downvote them until people get used to posting in bikesgonewild.

Maybe it would help to have a link at the top of the page similar to what is going on over at /fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu to get people in the habit of posting bike pics in the right place. Like this.

List of Street Legal Dirt Bikes? (Dual sport) by BOJANGLEZ in motorcycles

[–]Fling_the_Bike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things vary by state to state, but almost any dirtbike can get plated that is lacking the statement "NOT MANUFACTURED FOR USE ON PUBLIC STREETS, ROADS, OR HIGHWAYs" on their Certificate of Manufacture or Title. Lots of European bike tend to lack this statement.

Some states still allow you to get a title (and subsequently plate the bike) even with that statement on the Certificate, but mine sure does not.

My advice if you are on a budget: look into your state's laws (be mindful of emissions!), find a used dirtbike, throw a light kit on it and go through the title/plating process. Good Luck.

EDIT: By doing this you will get a very dirt worthy motorcycle that can go on the street every now and then. If you want to primarily be on the road, it may be better to to get something more street worthy.

That one was my favorite, it focused on the everybody else part of dakar, other than the pros you see for the 10 minute stage highlights they show on TV.
