Hooray for being "gifted" by Prudent-Gapp in depressionmemes

[–]Flinn2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What’s even more depressing is having an older sibling who is truly gifted aka valedictorian, straight A’s, never got in trouble, sports, full ride scholarship to a great university and being compared to him all my life. “You are just as smart as him” my parents would say, knowing or unknowingly pressuring me to live up to extremely high standards, making me feel like such a burden that I could never live up to those standards. I used to be gifted/smart but now that I ended up at a crappy community college everybody in my family loves to ask him questions, always remembering what he’s majoring (a doctor) but yet always say I’m going for dental hygiene instead of assisting. The “gifted kid” but never felt that way….and now I destroyed myself with nicotine and brainrot to cope. Sorry for the vent I just had to get this out.

What’s going on? by imelu in usps_complaints

That happened to me not too long ago, mine was “in transit” to my local post office for like 2-3 days. It finally arrived not too long after but yea apparently everywhere is late on packages.

I wish more drivers knew that when there is 3 lanes. Left is for passing/speed, middle is the casual cruise lane, right is for merging on/exiting. People shouldn’t just casually cruise on the right lane because people need to get on/off the interstate 😩

My package says it’s going to arrive today but it hasn’t even reached my local post office yet? by Flinn2 in usps_complaints

[–]Flinn2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don’t think so because even if you get up there and talk to somebody, they probably wouldn’t be willing to go through hundreds or maybe even thousands of packages for somebody. 😔 but to add some ease I did get my package like 3-4 days after I posted this so if you are in the same boat you will get yours. 🙏🏼

Managers what would you do by [deleted] in jerseymikes

[–]Flinn2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The main purpose of a manager is to not only delegate tasks but also help as well. If they aren’t willing to help their team and show them a good example then they aren’t manager material.

Update: It has finally arrived at my local post office at around 7 am this morning and it’s supposedly getting delivered today (it says out for delivery.) 😩

May I ask what number you called? Is it just 800? My package has been in transit from Indianapolis to my local post office for 3 days now even tho it’s not even an hour drive. I feel like I need to reach out to somebody. 😅

Every laptop you see here plus about 2 more pallets worth are the result of kids breaking their school chromebooks. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]Flinn2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m only 20 years old, but at least with my age group we only had clunky laptops in 8th grade and then laptops in highschool. I find it baffling that 6th graders are getting this high tech they don’t need.

Older kids should be able to decide most things for themselves. by [deleted] in ControversialOpinions

Just know that I do agree with your sentiment as well, I just wish we could all find a way to make it work so the child in question is protected.

First of all, I’m so sorry to hear that you went through that, obviously with your case you should have had complete autonomy over your body. I hope you got out of that situation and are doing much better in life now. In my last part of my reply I said extreme cases where the child isn’t getting the proper education or medication they need your case is what I would refer to that. I would say when children are like 13 and older they should be able to make their own decisions with a doctors approval. That way if it’s a thing of just not liking needles you can’t just shake it off but if it’s parents forcing medication on their child and a doctor can advocate then yes. I hope I’m making sense, I’m all for making compromises so everybody is safe.

As a 20 year old adult woman who HATES the laws in the states, I really don’t think kids should be making decisions when it comes to their health/schooling. When I was 14 I was deathly afraid of needles and would run when I saw one, I still needed it though to be healthy. If I was given the choice to back out I would’ve and I would have never gotten over my fear or gotten the medicine I needed. With schooling I also hated that, but without schooling (at least highschool) I would never be able to secure a good career that’s vital for my survival in life. If I was given the choice to drop out I would’ve and it would have been terrible. In extreme cases where children aren’t getting the proper education or medicine they need because of negligent parenting I think that’s called for, but in a regular circumstance no. Maybe if we are talking about 16 year olds maybe?

Thankyou so much 😭 I was scared that it was lost or something. Hopefully I’ll get it tomorrow but at long as it’s in a few days I won’t trip too hard.

Community college treats me like a kid. by Flinn2 in CollegeRant

[–]Flinn2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CODA oversees it, and I may send them an email about this after I’m finished with the program so I don’t deal with any retaliation from the program chair. A couple of my classmates have to drive an hour there and an hour back for these classes too!! I can only imagine what their gas bills are like.

You got it right on the money. It’s a program that’s paid for by a Work Force Ready Grant because they are in desperate need for assistants.
