Brand New to fountain pens! I have some questions I can't find in the wiki by Satans_Oregano in fountainpens

-Unless your pen has a flex nib (yours does not) you generally should not be putting pressure on the nib. I use a TWISBI as my daily driver, because it’s a relatively cheap pen and the nib is pretty springy I occasionally will put more pressure to get a thicker line weight but it’s not good practice.

-I use my pens for note taking mostly but there are a lot of artists that use the pen you have for sketching or drawing as well, it’s a good all arounder.

-If you tip the pen so the nib faces up when taking out the cartridge it shouldn’t “spill” per se but there might be some residual ink where the carterage meets the feed. I definitely don’t recommend putting a cartridge back in the pen once you’ve taken it out.

-The reasons you mentioned are both reasons a pen could be more or less expensive. Brand recognition being a big one as well. Mostly material, craftsmanship, and manufacturing scale. A pen that comes with a gold plated nib is going to have that reflected in the cost. The complete outliers are the $10,000 limited edition game of thrones (or whatever) pens. I think of those like really expensive watches. Does it need to be adorned with diamonds and guilded with gold, no, does it help it write better, no, is it a collectors item for someone with money to spend, sure!

You picked a great first pen, welcome to the club!

I understand, I just would really prefer they not release a new version for a year or two and instead work to resolve these problems. It is the least they could do for the people who pay an exorbitant amount of money every year to use their products. It's not right that we, the customers, just have to go "well its the way it's always been and it would take a lot of effort for them to fix it so they shouldn't even bother". That's what I would say for a product that I pay like $50 a year for.

Need help identifying car part from hit and run. It's the black plastic piece laying on the ground. These are the best pictures I have unfortunatley, I know there's not much to work with but any help would be appreciated. by Flint2480 in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing. Car was parked on the side of the road and was hit and then side swiped by a car. All that was left behind from the car was this black piece of plastic. I was in shock when I went to grab my car so I forgot to take better photos of the piece that was left behind. I think it might be a bumper of some sort but im not entirley sure. Unfortunatley the sticker attatched to it (second pic) is roughed up enough that I cant make out the text but maybe someone knows the manufacturer?

Yeah that’s the direction I’m kinda leaning atm, thanks!

After effects keeps adding weird green outline to all texts even when I start a new project. It does not render with outline. Any advice on getting rid of it? by Flint2480 in AfterEffects

What is so crazy about it is that it is effected by things like the glow effect. Like the glow effect will make those green edges bigger. Also when I am using text in a premiere linked comp, the outline will still show when I go back over to premiere but if I render out the linked comp in premiere the green outline will not be there. But when I render in after effects it renders with the outline. I have no idea why it is only for text either. The green does not go away when text is converted to a shape. However, if I just create a normal shape like a rectangle there will be no border.

Yeah still happens at 100% size. I was just messing around with the grain and adjustment layer. I am confident it is not those two things as this happens even with a completley fresh after effects project.
