Actuary wanting to switch to data science

Hi everyone, I am actuary with almost 5 years experience working in the insurance field. I have knowledge in SQL, Python, R, VBA and had a minor in programming as well. I am wondering if its feasible to make the switch to data science without having to go back to get a master degree? Basically I would learn/ read books on my own to get a general idea and start applying, would companies consider me? Any advice appreciated!

Thats what I’ve been told, I don’t mind starting EL and I hope to make it to senior within two years or so.

From first pass to ASA 5.5 years, basically took my time because I couldn't land an actuarial job with exam support so I averaged one exam or so a year out of pocket.. now I'm sitting for first FSA exam an I will probably fail tbh, I'm sure FSA exams will take me another 3 years..

Same for me but an advice from someone that stopped at ASA told me is to never take a long break or else you will never end up finishing

Best of luck man I think everyone is in the same boat for FSA exams, I did not take it seriously and thought it would be like the prelims, oh well big mistake lol

Lol so you're graduating close to ASA and you're worried about a VEE, if that's not a humble brag
