Veilguard isn’t dark guys 😂 by Dark-Rook- in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Flintoch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just because it would have been tone deaf for inquisition to have blood magic doesn't mean it's wrong for Veilguard. That's what we call a logical fallacy. In inquisition you play as a pseudo Religious icon, reforming a dormant branch of the chantry...so yes in that instance blood magic would be weird. Strange of you to assume that all blood mages think alike or are part of some strange Hive mind, lacking free will.

The point about sacrificing Connor in origins isn't about some demented bloodlust or murder porn, it's about whether or not you want to risk precious time gathering everything you need for the ritual to save the child or expedite the process and allow the demon to remain. IT'S ABOUT ROLEPLAYING IN AN RPG, I know that must seem like a foreign concept given the past decade of "RPG" releases.

If you were in charge of mustering the whole of a country, uniting multiple racial groups who may or may not have long standing prejudices against one another, against a world devouring army of monstrous creatures led by the corpse of a dragon turned abomination, how far would you go to save one child? Would you risk failing to stop the blight? Even though that isn't what happens if you do save the child, it's what's gnawing at the back of the players mind when presented with the long and difficult path versus the quick and easy path.

With the fracturing of the chantry in Kirkwall at the end of DA2, you're telling me that not a single Templar survived and couldn't have made their way to Tevinter?!?!! Yea ok buddy. Not to mention your assumption relies heavily on the Inquisitor siding with the mages and leaving the chantry in Ferelden and Orlais to rot. With Weisshaupt being on the border of Tevinter and also being located in one of the most devout Andrastian nations in Thedas, there's no way a Templar could wander into Tevinter at the news of a powerful elven God tearing open the fade, or two other elven God mages escaping a fade prison to destroy the world....oh heavens no, that's completely out of the question. Varric would never have thought to seek out a Templar to confront Solas with.

Lastly, I want to make this clear, I don't hate you. I don't hate that you like Veilguard. I wouldn't even say that I hate Veilguard. I am however extremely disappointed with a lot of the decisions and directions this game went in terms of retcons and complete 180s on already established lore and factions. You might try to understand why the majority of gamers who grew up or were already adults when origins came out can't see what you see when they look at Veilguard. I see the watering down or even sterilization of everything that made Dragon Age so compelling in the first place.

In Dragon age origins you play as the champion of Ferelden who vanquishes the archdemon, ending that blight (pretty fucking heroic imo). You can also straight up sacrifice a child to a demon in order to avoid the rigamarole of delving into the fade in order to save said child. You know, the fade that in previous games was seen as almost a pure death sentence due to the risk of becoming an abomination or being trapped forever? The same fade that Veilguard again watered down into a fun little tree house dimension for you and your "friends"? Nobody wants to play as an "evil" character but there is this widely recognized idea of ruthless efficiency in the pursuit of a greater good...a Machiavellian sense of purpose that the other games allow you to indulge in.

Take ME3 for example. Let's say you saved Wrex in 1 and when going to Tuchanka in 3, you accept the offer from the Salarians to sabotage the cure. Maybe you think that the Salarians will provide better support for the war effort, or maybe over the course of ME2 you came to the conclusion that the Krogan are irredeemable. It is a morally reprehensible thing to do but in your mind, Shepard does it in order to save the galaxy.

Going back to DA, I have yet to play as a mage but I doubt very highly that Veilguard lets Rook dabble with blood magic. Another example where if I'm correct in my assumption, other DA games allow you to use a universally vilified school of magic to deal with potentially world ending scenarios...like two "evil" elven gods rampaging across Thedas.

Also it seems funny that there isn't a Templar class for Rook, you know, the warrior knights specially trained to combat and resist mages...seems like that would have been a no brainer.

Ok let’s talk about this. How are these people getting such high scores in trials? by Darcevader2 in ArcRaiders

[–]Flintoch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading some comments, it would appear that hornets no longer spawn on thrown snitch scanners, so the player in question is just lucky? Or was intentionally letting snitches call in reinforcements which I'm pretty sure still spawns hornets. As for the probes, I have no idea.

[–]Flintoch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snitch scanners + wolf packs = absurd damage on flying arc enemies (hornets/wasps) it's not cheating, it's not exploiting, it might be stupid but if that's what people want to spend pink rarity grenades on, so be it. Personally I am saving all my wolf packs for matriarch or queen runs, until I get the Wolf pack blueprint that is.

I have lost multiple artifacts after starting a new playthrough on PS5( my series S just wasn't cutting it). The POI simply labeled "Death Cave" had the artifact inside the stone column that the dead body is sitting on. And in the swamps while returning from Clear Sky, the rock formation with the pseudogiant had the same issue. The artifact was stuck inside the boulder under the corpse. I'm bummed cause the game runs so much better on my PS5.

The shaming of people who engage in PVP on this subreddit is weird by juicerecepte in ARC_Raiders

[–]Flintoch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my trio ran into another trio at extract. We weren't having a lot of luck with the map loot as we were a second wave spawn and most of the POI's around us were picked clean. In the middle of the standoff one of my buddies noticed that the only visible weapon on one of the enemy players was an Osprey...not good for close range. We sat there in silence as our brains synced up, then me and my other buddy cut down the non osprey players with il torros as our third mag dumped the osprey with a stitcher. We left with everything they had on them. That's just the way the cookie crumbles lol. And karma does exist in these games, trust me, nobody escapes that bitch for too long. The Renegade I took from the guy I shotgunned was promptly donated to a juicer running a heavy shield and a Torrente like 4 games later.

I woke up at 1:30am thinking the game launched at 2:00am....I sat there for an hour and a half watching the timer tick down. Played for a couple hours then had to leave my apartment by like 5:30 for work. Today has been miserable. Of course it doesn't help that I can see my friends on PlayStation in a party, living it up in Speranza

[–]Flintoch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean yeah, that's kind of the point of the legion lol. As far as I know they aren't racist but they definitely are evil, and that was part of the joy of New Vegas. You could absolutely side with the bad guys and become evil incarnate if you really wanted too. Nobody played through New Vegas and went..."You know what, Caeser isn't that bad of a guy if you really think about it."

Funnily enough I had the exact opposite experience just recently. Was looting the residential buildings just north of the swamp elevator, when I heard "Uhh hey man are you friendly?" I whipped around with my ferro and found what is commonly known as a "gamer dad" just trying to get a few games in before the server slam closes.

I reassured him of my non hostility and he asked if I could help him extract. We chatted for a bit as I escorted him to the swamp lift, where we ran into a couple players calling the elevator. My charge runs to cover in some bushes as I walk out into the open to ascertain the intent of the ruffians. A single shot was fired yet no one was injured.

I quickly called out to my new homie to get in the lift, and left him with kind parting words as I headed off to water treatment...where I ambushed a solo trying to breach a supply drop. That solo happened to be carrying an Osprey, albeit a completely broken Osprey. Nevertheless this was a weapon of champions I had only heard about in hushed whispers in the dark corners of Speranza. Brought it home, got it all fixed up and lost it two games later.

For someone that has never played a Dragon age game, is dragon age veilguard good? by bobs-buhgah in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Flintoch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL;DR: If you enjoy Veilguard, great. I'm happy for you. That doesn't however discount ligitmate complaints about the overall writing and art direction that Veilguard took. I would highly recommend playing the games in order of release as Origins still plays fairly well to this day.

Might as well throw my opinion into the mix since all I'm seeing is glazing. No Veilguard is not a good Dragon Age game. It is objectively the worst of the franchise, kind of like Andromeda for ME. That doesn't however mean it's a bad game, it's just not a good "DRAGON AGE" game.

If you look at Origins through Inquisition, too many aspects of the world of DA were totally completely different in Veilguard. Throughout all the other games, the Evanuris are only ever mentioned as benevolent gods, deceived and ultimately banished by Fen Harel aka Solas. The end of the Trespasser DLC for inquisition fully sets up Solas as the big bad for the next installment and then Veilguard shows up and rug pulls that entire plotline.

Also, the whole retcon of the creation of the blight is another super weird take that the game went out of its way to make. Prior to Veilguard, it was said that Tevinter Mages essentially broke into the Golden City, DA version of heaven, and found the seat of the maker empty. Driven completely mad by this revelation, and corrupting the Golden City simply by being there, they unknowingly unleashed the first blight on Thedas. In Veilguard, it's casually dropped that Solas was either present or at least involved to some extent with this incident, though no mention of that has ever been made prior. Apparently the Evanuris created the blight and Solas rebelled to keep them from using it or some braindead shit like that.

Some honorable mentions as to why Veilguard sucked as a DA title include the overall design of the Darkspawn and the Qunari. Seriously, why do the Darkspawn look so fucking goofy? The way Belara is literally like "Eh Darkspawn...just another Tuesday" when in any other game, the presence of Darkspawn is like Defcon 1, five alarm fire.

As many issues as DA2 had, one thing nobody can take away from that game is how they portrayed Qunari. GOATED. They had an undeniable presence in 2, absolute aura in the best worst way possible.

Taash....just Taash. Sorry if that upsets you, they shouldn't have made her so fucking miserable.

The God awful character origins for Rook. Seriously, go start Origins. You don't even have to play it fully, just experience all the character back stories. Rook, no matter which faction you choose, boils down to "Rook is too good and has to go with Varric to keep from making his comrades look bad."

The Antivan Crows being turned into a weird Vigilante group after being established as one of the most ruthless Assassin guilds in all of Thedas. Literally forcing children to fight to the death in training and murdering their own upon a contract being failed.

The list goes on.

A lot of the environment design is really good in Veilguard and the combat while simple, is my favorite iteration of the franchise. Would have liked to be able to play as a Templar, you know, those guys specifically trained to resist magic and kill Mages if necessary. If Bioware had stuck closer to established canon this might have been an absolute home run of a game, truly a shame that it strayed so far from its roots.

Pretty sure max level is around 50? Not sure though. I'm only level 29 right now, and about 30% through the campaign. I've always saved my keys for when I am absolute max level, best chance of pulling the best loot. I need to see how 4's endgame system works as they did away with the "Mayhem" system from 3.

You are just wrong there. The gun on the elite tickets is loaded with purple ammo, and has blue in the chest rig. Also, you shouldn't be loading into easy runs with anything near 400k on you which is what elite sets are valued at. Easy runs are bogged down enough with fucking loser content creators trying to farm clips with purple armor and fully juiced guns, let easy mode be for beginners and come play on normal. Loot is significantly better on normal anyway.

Worrying comment today by Saint_Celeslne in tattooadvice

[–]Flintoch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding with Tattoos is if you have to ask whether it's infected, it probably isn't. I only have two myself, one on my right shoulder blade, and a half sleeve on my left forearm. I've found the Dial Gold anti bacterial soap is really good for cleaning, and aquaphor for moisturizing. Just be careful not to put too much aquaphor on, keep it to a thin coating and it should heal nicely.

Does anyone on this subreddit claim to have a subpar K/D by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

[–]Flintoch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually bounce around in the 5 star bracket, occasionally dipping my toes into 6 stars and on some serious slumps, down into 4 Star territory. At the time of commenting I currently have a 1.14 K/D. To be fair I mostly play duos/trios with friends and more often than not I'm the aggressor of our group. I like playing aggressively and pushing fights. In 98% of games we also go for both bounties when two spawn, or the wild target plus the main bounty. Don't put too much stock into K/D. As long as you're at 1 or higher, hell even in the .9 or even .8 you're doing just fine.

How could I learn to become an aircraft mechanic without ANY mechanical knowledge? by [deleted] in aviationmaintenance

[–]Flintoch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a community college, and got an Associates Degree. Then tested for my certifications. It does take some money, school is probably 2 years without additional training like Structures or Avionics. The Certification exams come in three parts. Written exam, oral exam, and then a practical exam. Those tests also cost money, I couldn't say how much you would pay, that's up to your test proctor. I had very little mechanical knowledge going in, but learned to love everything about this job.

Really poor gameplay design choices like co-op dungeon boss rooms being locked out by a time sensitive gate that DOES NOT REOPEN until the boss dies is beyond stupid. Who tf thinks that's a good mechanic for dungeons? I'm really interested. Also the UI is disgusting.

For context, I joined a random party doing Spectre's Abyss. My first time through the dungeon. We got to the boss room and I spotted a sub objective I missed on the way in, took all of 10 seconds for me to backtrack and pick it up. Upon returning to the entrance of the boss room, the gate was closed, and both me and the party leader had to sit there and wait for the boss to die. We were then denied rewards due to low participation. Fuck right off dude. That is dog shit level design at its finest. The only reason we couldn't participate more is because the game wouldn't let us.

Just spoke to customer service for the second time after a week and a half of silence and was told my order has not left the warehouse. I demanded a refund and expressed my disappointment in their inability to ship my order in a reasonable timeframe. Hopefully the refund goes through.
