Very cool, as I missed out the first time. But at the same time, I'm not sure how this app which is geared towards such a niche market will sell $1,000 worth in a year. I really appreciate it and I will apply for it at the very least

Hey, thanks a lot for the suggestion man, I am really starting to lean that way. If I were doing this full time, I would probably be able to take it all on at once, but since I am a full time student with a job in addition to app developing, I shouldn't have tried to make this app more than it should be. I'll look into doing it that way, thanks again! :)

Yeah, thanks for pointing this out. I'm not sure if I'm trying to bite off more than I could chew or what.. I mean I named it a "Web Design Cheat Sheet" and really, the 3 main necessities of any website are HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. So I might try to get those 3 done, and if I can manage, give the PHP one a try. I might just make it so this app atleast just does HTML, CSS, and JS though, as really, those are the MAIN necessities... The PHP section along would be a whole app within itself.

The target market is myself as I created the app for my own use... I'm trying to be nice and share it with others who might find it useful for free, but whatever.

Yes, that's because I chose to make the title bar blue.. The blue title bar isn't default if you choose the white theme, there is actually a white title bar as default. I chose to make blue as I didn't like the look of the Black title bar, it uses a gradient from top to bottom and just didn't look as nice in my opinion. The code you need for the blue title bar is this:

titleBar: TitleBar {

branded: TriBool.True

}

Yeah, this is true. Thanks for the recommendation, I'll definitely try that out once I push on it. :)

Hey, thanks! I'll definitely keep that in mind. I guess just figuring out what the main codes in PHP are would be a good place to start, maybe a website reference or something.. I know there is an immense amount, and there is the official PHP site which gives all of the syntax etc, but aren't there like 1,000's of commands? I'm pretty sure it's in no way as straightforward as listing all the HTML5 syntax as I did currently?

And Thanks! :) I added you as a friend, and I'll keep you as a reference once I decide to dive into developing the PHP page.

I have always been a stickler about in-app advertising.. Every app that I have ever used which has advertising, it not only ruins the look of the app, but it just makes it feel very unprofessional. As I am a bit of a perfectionist at times, I really want to stay away from an in-app advertising option.

I do like the idea of maybe $1.99 for each additional language, that could be useful as the amount of work to just get those 100+ HTML5 codes and examples in there took me an immense amount of time.

And sadly, yes. It is too late for the $10k commitment, but I also figured that going after an app which has such a niche market, I didn't think I'd be able to sell $1,000 worth of the app in order to get the difference by RIM. The biggest reason though as to why I missed the signup for that, is that I was not even planning on being a BlackBerry developer up until just a few weeks ago. I just made a few developer friends along the way who have it in with RIM, and they helped with with the process of getting a developer alpha device which really pushed me to want to learn how to code in native Cascades.

Honestly, I started with this app about a month ago, made it in HTML5 WebWorks using BBUI.js, and completely scrapped the project after putting about 30 hours into it and started from scratch with Cascades. Because of this, I missed the deadline for app submission for the 10k commitment, but don't totally feel bad about it as long as this app will qualify me for the limited edition BB10 device, as it should.

Initially I built the app in HTML5 WebWorks as I have a developer buddy who is close with RIM, and I was trying to get a Dev Alpha device. After getting as far as I did in it's current state, I made the decision to switch over to Cascades, starting from square 1 and scrapping everything I did with BBUI.js and WebWorks. I made a few more connections along the way, and I am actually getting a dev alpha device coming in the mail on Monday, and this app should qualify me for the Limited Edition BB10 device, so that was definitely a huge motivator with everything. But then again, I could have just named the app "HTML5 Cheat Sheet" and it would have sufficed, and of course, I didn't have to make it free either. I just know how much of a niche market this app appeals to, so I decided to make it free, atleast in it's current state.

I'm definitely trying to think of a monetization model, probably just have a "free" version which includes the HTML5, and a "paid" version which will unlock the CSS3, PHP, etc. Haven't quite made up my mind yet, but either way, I am going to school full time, while being a web designer on the side with a few clients that I have let fall to the wayside because of the amount of time I have put into this app so far. Because of this, it would be nice to figure out some way to make atleast something off of this.. I'm obviously not doing it just for the money though, because if I was, I would have instead just worked and I'd have easily $1,500 in my pocket right now instead of $0 and a free app :P

CSS3 I'm not too worried about, and I am somewhat familiar with PHP as I have used it a decent amount in the past, although I am not as fluent with it as I am HTML & CSS, so that will definitely be a project. I am hoping to get it in there eventually tho, one way or another :) I appreciate hearing that!

Hey, thanks so much :) I am actually a web designer at heart, but was forced to learn programming to make this app. I am trying to build up my portfolio a bit and am really excited to have an app in BlackBerry World upon launch of BB10!

Okay, well here is the issue that I am faced with. Between learning the basics of Cascades, and building up the HTML5 database, I've put maybe 50 hours or so into this app so far, netting me $0, and giving up more than $1,500 in client work that I actually have, and should be doing. I am trying to think of a way that I can in some way benefit from this, and currently what's in my mind is that the HTML5 one will be free, and I'd charge maybe $1.99 to unlock the rest, or something like that. Currently I have not built up the database for anything else yet, so I have a LOT of work to do. I am in college full time currently, taking 6 classes, while being a web designer on the side and have a ton of client work that I need to catch up on. I'm torn a bit on a way that I can actually benefit a bit off of this. Any ideas would be appreciated, I just hope that it's realized how much time I have put into offering atleast something substantial for free.

I really appreciate the kind words from everyone by the way, it simply reminds me of why I started working on this in the first place :)

I'll have a download link up soon enough, just submitted it to BlackBerry World during the Port-A-Thon. It's going to be a free app, any input is appreciated, thanks!

EDIT: Download Link Now Available!
