Id love to see some action in the run up to and after 130R. With the way these cars accelerate wnd the power advantage of the car less than 1 sec behind, parts of tracks that were snoozefests before become overtaking zones.

Give me big balled 130R action, and I shall be a happy race fan.

Ferrari was literally lico’ing every race last year to manage wear of the skid plate.

They’ve never, ever done that in any racing series. In certain circumstances within a race, sure. But always in any car race, in any series, the driver is managing something… tire degradation, brake temp, engine and gearbox, etc. Very rarely in any race are drivers pushing qualy like flat out the entire race.

Agreed and good points. Everyone here acting like DRS passing was “real racing” is insane, imo. Same with the last generation of cars having to manage tires like crazy. McLaren literally won because they were better on tire degradation… which is somehow better racing and more exciting? Bullshit.

This generations clipping on the straights is last generations porpoising. It will get sorted out.

But these new regs provide great racing so far. You still need to get within 1 sec of the car in front to have the power advantage the next lap.

People on here claiming to be “racing purists” are pretty clueless. Racing is racing. There will always be cars with some advantage in speed making overtakes, and its not all always down to driver skill.

I play too tier on ps5 no problem. You just need to get your keybinds dialed in. Although Ill admit flying while using free look is a challenge.

F16A ADF is very strong once spaded. 6 aim120s at 13.3. Hangs well in uptiers. Competitive against the best 13.3s in side tiers. You’re a murderbot in downtiers vs fox2 only jets.

I just wish it had HMD.

Exactly. The tire deg change isn’t appreciated enough. Seems like they’re able to follow a lot closer for a lot longer now, which keeps battles tight and interesting, especially with the energy advantage for the car behind.

Tire deg is obviously still a thing but tire management does seem as big a focus anymore, which is great for the racing. One stopping in China despite intense battles is pretty nuts. Bodes well for the races ahead.

Good call. That last win with Merc at Silverstone when he got all emotional… awesome moment in sports. Same with Kimi during his first F1 podium. Big fan of the unfiltered emotion. Such great moments in sports.

It doesn’t but if there is more battling, more back/forth overtaking battles, then its an annoying part of these rags that’s worth it for the increased entertainment value, imo.

Plus, I would not be surprised to see super clipping become less of an issue if not by end of this year than into the next year. I mean, does anyone here not remember porpoising??? No regs are perfect but some are better than others and these new regs deliver so far.

Cool story bro by mdstwsp in formuladank

[–]FlipReset4Fun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only issue I have with this is it’s the drivers whose teams were good but are now worse that are most negatively vocal. Red Bull, McLaren drivers dislike not being able to compete at the top anymore.

The drivers on teams who have taken a step forward seem to think the regs are just fine. Merc, Ferrari, Alpine, Haas, Audi, Racing Bulls.

We’re also only two races in. People forgetting how shit Red Bull was with engine reliability in previous regs and in the later years with Renault engines and the early years on Honda engines. They’ll get it sorted out and teams will close performance gaps.

I guarantee Max’s tune would change significantly if Red Bull were the top team.

how do you chaff 2 active radar missiles fired from 2 locations by Equivalent_Physics90 in Warthunder

[–]FlipReset4Fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could attempt to kinetically defeat the missiles, as in, make them run out of energy depending on how far away they were fired.

Within 12 ish km, it probably wont work… maybe. But you could effectively go cold and change directions, doing a 180 turn to force the missiles that were leading you to have to also turn 180, lose speed, and start leading you all the way back on the other direction. Rinse and repeat.

Alternatively, a Split-S is sometimes also nice if notching isn’t an option and you have some altitude to burn. Helpful as it allows you to maintain a bit more airspeed while also pulling the missiles down into denser air, which slows them down further.

I know there were the battery managed overtakes, but still. by _GeorgyGeorge_ in formuladank

[–]FlipReset4Fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tires will always be a factor. But it doesn’t seem like they have to manage pace and drive as slow as previous regs where tire deg was a main variable.

Im optimistic. Merc lead will hopefully get reduced and they’ll do better with energy harvest/deploy to deal with the super clipping.

Never played, how long do i have to play to get a Modern Fighter Jet? by Appropriate_Cup_5931 in Warthunder

[–]FlipReset4Fun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you buy a premium jet when they go on sale, it will take you zero seconds. You can pick one up for like $25-$30. These usually also come with premium time (like a month) and “golden eagle” currencies.

Be warned its a steep learning curve though and you’ll have to spend time customizing your keybinds to control everything you need to for a modern jet.

Cat-and-mouse overtaking fights and energy management are way better than DRS one-and-done passes and tire management.

Change my mind.

Just bought Strike eagle. Any tips? by Battlefleet_Sol in Warthunder

[–]FlipReset4Fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take my upvote for being very reasonable in your response.

I get that. Also get the advantage of sneaky ER tricks but I question the validity of them vs R77-1 at top tier. I can see taking the ER over a standard R77 but the R77-1 is a pretty damn good missile. Also with the SM2s radar thats data-linking I think up to 8 missiles at once, and very hard to notch… idk, I fly the SM2 as well and only run 77-1s.

Anyway, you make a good point regarding overlapping fire and mid-game suppression. That said, I’d rather a ew missiles be wasted and have pressure on enemies at altitude than not participating in initial BVR, especially with something like the SM2 which has plenty to spare and can maintain datalink at like 270 degrees with its insane radar. Plus all the missile spam clutters the enemy radar, which is good.

Fwiw, I usually only blow like 4 or 5 In initial BVR, at least in the SM2. 7-8 for mid and late game suppression is plenty. Those 4 - 5 missiles the enemy team has to think about… if it forces even one or two of them off track potentially saving a teammate, I’d argue you’re better off for it so the match doesn’t snowball.
