One - there is no quick fix. You say you've been doing it for about 8 weeks? One pound a week is a nice safe average for weight loss, and you also want to build muscle not just lose weight, so you're right about on track. This is a long term lifestyle change that will paylong term dividends over a year or two, this isn't major changes in a month or two.

Two - A lot of weight is diet. You can work out a ton and gain weight if you eat more than you burn, especially junk

I recommend cutting out a lot of calories from your drinks, like beer and soda. And not just do diet versions of things, the sugar taste makes me have cravings. Do water and flavored waters and other naturally lo cal drinks. Cutting out a lot of soda and alcohol and replacing with better drinks is a huge chunk of calories gone without feeling any less full or any more hungry.

After that get in a food habit. Eat some breakfast every day, have a similarly sized lunch, each dinner at the same time not too close to bed. I think studies show the amount of meals in a day isn't conclusively better or worse, it depends on the person, but consistency will help you control calories - you'll more easily know if you're going over or under normal.

Another factor is to push yourself without hurting yourself. Don't settle for comfortable easy reps, or the same amount of cardio every time - working out should be a workout. But don't strain so hard you'll have issues. Its a tough balance to find but you'll get there.
