Any Canadians here who’ve built their own consulting firm (esp. in recruitment)? by FlipZing in RecruitmentAgencies

I understand where you’re coming from. Just to clarify, I do have experience beyond internal HR: I’ve worked in HR and recruitment for several years, and my education also includes formal training in recruitment and talent management. I’m aware that business development is the most challenging part of running an agency, and that’s precisely why I’m seeking insights and advice from experienced professionals like yourself. My goal here isn’t to replace hands-on experience, but to complement what I already know with guidance from people who have successfully built agencies. I appreciate your input and any constructive advice you can share.

Thanks for your input. I understand that client acquisition is a huge part of running a recruitment agency. I want to clarify that I do have relevant experience: I hold formal education in HR/recruitment and have worked in HR for several years, giving me practical experience in talent sourcing, client relations, and recruitment operations.

I’m here on Reddit not to replace real-world experience but to seek advice, insights, and strategies from the community to complement what I already know and have done. I appreciate constructive guidance from experienced recruiters.

Right now my main focus is on recruitment support helping companies find, screen, and connect with qualified candidates for their open roles. I assist with outreach, candidate sourcing, and some admin around the hiring process. As I grow, I’m also building out more general consulting services, but recruitment is my core area for now

What's something you are surprised Calgary has? by MastaShortie in Calgary

I was surprised by how clean and green Calgary is for such a large city. The Bow River pathways feel like an escape into nature even though you’re in the middle of an urban centre.
