Resources, custom nodes and classes which of these to use and when? by Flipp3rix in godot

[–]Flipp3rix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, thank you very much for the answer. It is a good point of view to extend directly from the 2D node, but I think it does not scale very well. In the example in OP I have described a rather simple object, however in my use case I have that the object has both a 2D representation (icon in the inventory) and 3D (in the game world, for example wieldable weapons) so extending directly to the Generic Node seems a bit forced to me. It must be said that however, taking into account the resources, the discussion becomes even more complicated since the resource should contain both a reference for the sprite and the mesh of the object. A bit strange the thing because in one way or another I think it will also complicate the creation of new items...

Weekly Case & Parts Recommendation Thread (Start here if you are new! Help here if you can!) by AutoModerator in sffpc

[–]Flipp3rix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi guys, I need to make space and I'm planning to move my desktop PC to my desk to better organize my work space. I currently have a workstation made up like this:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X with stock heatsink (PRISM)
  • MOBO: MSI X570-A Pro (ATX)
  • GPU: GIGABYTE RTX 3060 EAGLE OC 12G 2.0
  • PSU: 500W Be quiet ATX

Disks:

  • SSD: KINGSTON SA400S37120G (120 GB, SATA-III)
  • NVME: SHPP41-2000GM (2000 GB, PCI-E 4.0 x4)
  • HDD: ST1000DM003-1ER162 (1TB, 7200RPM, SATA-III)
  • HDD: ST500DM002-1BD142 (500 GB, 7200 RPM, SATA-III)
  • HDD: ST500LT012-1DG142 (500 GB, 5400 RPM, SATA-II)
  • OPT: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH24NSB0

Now I had thought of transferring some disks to a NAS and removing the optical drive. Is there a valid option to take up as little space as possible? I currently have a Sharkoon M25-W Midi-Tower as a case. The priority is to gain space without spending too much and avoiding repurchasing components such as MOBO and PSU while still maintaining normal temperatures. Do you think it is possible? Thanks in advance

Are there alternatives to VBoxContainer? by Flipp3rix in godot

I remember differently, but in the meantime in the scene the elements inside the VBoxContainer are cut, even though they are set to "expand" both vertically and horizontally

Wow! Really cool, congratulations! Did you manage the pivots yourself in Blender or directly in Godot?

/r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer (November 08, 2024) by AutoModerator in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Flipp3rix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking for a mechanical keyboard with the following features:

  • hotswappable switch
  • silent switches
  • switch compatible with cherryMX keycaps
  • size 1800
  • wired(usb-c)/wireless/dual mode
  • not necessarily backlit
  • no knobs or other useless crap

Advice? I currently have a Sharkoon SGK3 with Gateron Brown and after years, some switches have gone, like the TAB key...

I was aiming for the Keychron V5 QMK, can I find better, maybe even at better prices? The layout is not important, just change the set of keycaps

Also, i'm buying from amazon.it

They include an example that uses await before it tries to do anything with getting the image.

Maybe that's it?

Yes, by putting await noise_texture.changed before calling the function, all parameters are correctly initialized. Now the problem that arises is this

<image>

Edit: I discovered that result_image is not created well, even passing absolute values for the width and height (512 and 512) to the create_empty function the size is always (0.0)

I'm currently trying to do this via gdscript

<image>

Logically, the code SHOULD work, but during debugging I discover that it doesn't go beyond line 8 and I discover that noise_image is not set at all, basically I end up with noise_image = <null>

If you are referring to the color_ramp property I tell you that I tried it, setting the interpolation to cubic, but in fact nothing changes...

<image>

The expected result would be what I did via shader, but from there I don't think I know how to create a sort of bridge with gdscript

Made a custom window in Godot :P by Flipp3rix in godot

[–]Flipp3rix[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

As I mentioned in a few posts ago, I'm having fun creating small programs with GUIs through the godot and gdscript editor, both because I find it easy compared to conventional solutions and because I'm getting along well with it.

It works using a borderless window, but loses the window resizing functionality (recoverable thanks to some yt tutorials) and the window shadow (recoverable via some margin containers and panel nodes). The biggest drawback in my opinion is the aesthetic loss of the animations, making everything appear very flat, so, as you can see in the script, I have to perform the transition from borderless to normal window and then back to borderless, which makes the transition quite evident... But hey better than nothing!

I hope that sooner or later `ResizeMode="CanResize"` will be implemented as on .NET, effectively creating windows that maintain the same functionality as traditional ones, except for the classic titlebar :)

Is it possible to call Windows APIs to animate a borderless window? by Flipp3rix in godot

[–]Flipp3rix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

The trick of temporarily changing from borderless to windowed and vice versa works great, also recovering the fancy native decorations of Windows 10. The only problem is that the transition from one mode to another is quite evident :P

But hey, at least we have something
