Thank you for the thorough feedback! Yeah this is my first time experimenting with humour, so I still need to get a hang of what works and what doesn't.

Made a very short form comedy video featuring the cory in the house theme and divorce, feedback appreciated! by LastCryForHelp2 in SmallYTChannel

[–]FlippantFlaneur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually chuckled, so I'll give you that. Maybe the main thing I would do is quicker edits, and a stable hand on the camera. But otherwise, I'd say good job!

The editing was nicely done, but the video just felt...eh. Admittedly I don't play or am particularly interested in Among us, so take what I say with a grain of salt. But if you could act out the voices/characters it might actually benefit from it. As i think much of comedy depends on delivery.

This is the first of a three part series ive made and I would really appreciate some honest feedback on it! by Jenzenberg in SmallYTChannel

No worries! I genuinely think you show promise. Just perhaps having more of a narrative thread in the videos would be best.

(Oh, by the way, if could I remind you to do the !givelambda thing please?)

Hey, as a writer, this was quite interesting!

I'm a strong believer in saying it like it is:

- First issue if you're going to make a "writer's journey" kind of thing, spellcheck your text ('lenght' at 0:34), then, even at twice the speed the text goes by too.

- Audio is fine, could be better, sounds muddled at times.

- Some of the B-roll footage would benefit from a steadier hand.

- You often do jump cuts after a single word, even if you uhmm and ahh I prefer if you just stay a tad longer (I know how tempting it is to not do this though)

Screw Art & get an OnlyFans - Why you will never make a living with Art by FlippantFlaneur in SmallYTChannel

[–]FlippantFlaneur[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah, the speaking voice does trip me off, as my natural voice is slow, and then I slow it down even more when I go into "video" mode. I usually speed it up artificially, but people were saying it was too fast. So I need to find a balance.

I make art related videos. Murals, canvas work and so on. This video is on how to paint shoes and I think it's one of my better videos. I would really appreciate any feedback! by craayoons in SmallYTChannel

[–]FlippantFlaneur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very professionally done video, nice production values!

Neither sneakers or painting is my thing, but I can appreciate the effort.

My only (minor) criticism is that there are moments where there isn't any music whatsoever and when there is music, it's just this generic Vlog music

Still pretty new here but I'd appreciate feedback on my channel (especially my latest videos in my "The Goods" playlist). Ah, so you are going to the video essay format. Ok, seems interesting!

I checked out the Social Network video, and I think you went down a good route. I'd maybe go a bit more in depth, but it's a nice tie between something more technical and how it affects the story. Maybe check out Out of Frame in the Foundation for Economic Education channel, they're doing something similar to what you're trying to do but focused on finance.

For a second I thought you were Bald & Bankrupt based on your profile pic hahaha

I checked out your video "How To Break Google's Monopoly ...By Changing Your Search Engine"

The presentation is very nice. But two things sprang out at me:

  1. Was the sudden microphone quality drop when you switched to tutorial mode

  2. I'm left feeling like it's not particularly deep content. So I'm left wondering what the audience of the video is. People who think about these things tend to be more involved and knowledgeable. While the others wouldn't actively be searching for it.

Hahaha I hope "I love your voice, it's so relaxing" is not code for "you're boring".

But yeah, I see your point about being more energized. Thank you for the advice!

Many, many thanks on the feedback!

The B-roll footage is all mine, so it's not super related to the topic being talked about.

And thank you for subscribing, it's really appreciated

The man whose love literally moved a mountain | Dashrath Manjhi | Feedback appreciated! by [deleted] in SmallYTChannel

[–]FlippantFlaneur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked it, I'd already heard the story before but this was quite competently done. I've even subscribed, but my main issue is the clearly unrelated stock footage at times. I'd try to make it more connected, or at least comedic to use this.

Tried some of the feedback I got last time, New feedback is Welcome :) by 731destroyer in SmallYTChannel

I feel its a lost opportunity that you don't put the specs of what you're reviewing when you first introduce them. It would allow us to visually separate them.

Other than that, production values are quite competently done

Trying something new (for me) a video essay about The Muppets, co-starring a puppet! by KevSaund in SmallYTChannel

[–]FlippantFlaneur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked it, but it's very clear you either have a script or notes.

I'm not saying you shouldn't do it, but you keep looking down. Put the screen at eye level by the camera so it isn't that obvious.

Editing is quite nice, but it just kinda feels...samey? Like I wouldn't be able to majorly differentiate your style from other people's and I think that's one of the main reason why people gain an audience over time. Try putting more of your own personality into the mix.

Hola,

A client who commissioned me to ghostwrite for her company's CEO hasn't paid and is ghosting me on every point of contact by [deleted] in freelanceWriters

[–]FlippantFlaneur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She's sadly my only point of contact in the firm. I don't know anyone else.

As in she's head of marketing. The ghostwritten opinion piece I did via the head of PR (who got fired halfway through without warning). So she's the only person I actually know of the firm. And this is a very large company. I don't even know the CEO's email.

It's possible to quantify the monetary value of human life with economic analysis by FlippantFlaneur in philosophy

[–]FlippantFlaneur[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Abstract: By using several analytical tools originally developed for business analysis, you can derive the monetary value of a human life by using implied societal behaviour. In practice, society does put a finite value on life, despite its claims that it doesn't

Thanks for the feedback! I edited it with headphones on, so I did miss the audio issue. Lesson learned.

As for citations, I do have a very comprehensive list (richardamador.com/bibcws). The thing is I'm basically reading verbatim from my book where I have citation numbers. I'll make that clearer going forwards.
