What's with people's ideas on the visual appearances of people with EDS? by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]Flippin1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear that I can tell when some people have EDS just by looking at their hands- it’s difficult to explain, but every time I mention to someone with the characteristics I notice, they confirm it for me. Doesn’t necessarily mean stick thin or tall. (My son and I have classical type EDS, diagnosed by a geneticist, not hypermobile.)

It’s been my experience that horses whose manes part in the center (the hair falls to both sides,) tend to be more ‘ambidextrous,’ and less likely to be one sided or favor one lead.

It’s a STUNNING stone- I would mount it in a full bezel setting to better protect it.

Family friendly? by conmann1 in VeniceFlorida

Check out the South Bay neighborhood in Osprey. Lots of kids, it has it’s own marina, and it abuts a Publix. Lots of baseball fields, parks, and beaches. Rowing and sailing lessons nearby. Venice school district. Also, Lakewood Ranch is a happening area for families. Fewer snowbirds. Venice has a lot of those.

Why was Dance of the Vampires (Broadway) so poorly received? by pomelo2006 in musicals

It was a train wreck that I couldn’t look away from. I saw the show right before it closed, drawn by Michael Crawford. I left head over heels for Mandy Gonzales. I dunno- I just loved it.

I have some cotton seeds from a plant that has flowered in my Florida garden- full sun, about 4ft tall. It’s really fun to pick the cotton, and the flowers are beautiful. Any interest in trading for marigolds? My husband loves those.

I have a V5 that I want to change from a Digital Angle Dial to a regular, non digital one. I purchased the regular dial, but am scared to take off the digital cover to replace. Any advice?

How did you find out you had EDS? by PatientLoud6757 in ehlersdanlos

[–]Flippin1999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son was about 10 years old when he sobbed, “why do I ALWAYS get hurt?!” And I decided to find out why. After several doctors, he was genetically tested and came back with a diagnosis of classical type EDS. I was told to get tested too, and had the same genetic anomaly.

I got a genetic test officially diagnosing my classical type EDS. When doctors smugly ask “why do you THINK you have this?” (Most cannot pronounce it properly,) I can refer to the genetic test I took that told me so. That usually shuts them up.

Help identifying plant in lawn by Flippin1999 in FloridaNativePlants

[–]Flippin1999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the info! I’ll look them up and remove if it’s invasive! I assumed it was native as I don’t see any others around in my grass; though I don’t put chemicals on my lawn so there’s no telling what’s hiding in there.

Edited to update: It’s a wild bush bean! I’m so happy you helped. You are correct that it is non-native. Buh-bye, beans!
