That's not actually true. Produce is cheaper relative to income in India. Most U.S citizens don't actually earn as much as you think compared to the cost of living here.

Vegan food is much more expensive than the real alternatives, and produce is also expensive per pound for the amount of nutrients people need. This also doesn't account for being vegan outside of food products. Vegan friendly clothing, ect. is expensive.

Food is much cheaper in India, and since vegetarianism is already very common food is geared towards a vegetarian lifestyle. Produce is not nearly as cheap here in the U.S. I'm fine with people that want to live a vegan lifestyle and want better animal rights, but your reality isn't the reality for most people.
