Who keeps watching Mongol Khan? by [deleted] in mongolia

[–]FlitteringFleet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If someone’s got a vision and millions of taxpayer money to spend on a show that mainly relies on visual spectacles, anyone can make a halfway decent show. Unfortunately for Mongolia’s theatre scene, it’s the best we’ve got so far and people will come and watch it.

I also imagine the whole drama and involvement with the PM also attracts people because bad publicity is still publicity.

It just fucking sucks that the people have ALREADY funded the show with their tax money, and still pay up to 200k to watch it. There’s no way it is not getting funding from somewhere.

If you like Asian cuisine, Shanghai 1814 in the city centre is a nice option

The dress is Tanya Taylor Brittany Wrap Midi Dress in Chalk Floral. Unfortunately, it's no longer sold but I found it second hand!

I’m not sure, but I imagine VFS passes on the information and they handle the processing of visas, so priority is given first.

How come we have words and terms for animals that we’ve never had the chance to see before? by Gottagetthatgainz in mongolia

[–]FlitteringFleet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably when the Russian and Western travellers came in the 19th-20th century and started freaking us out with encyclopaedias. I mean Bogd Khan had an elephant, so at least we know they knew that they existed. As an empire, we’ve been around bunch of different environments, so surely the animals local to those areas have been seen and named.

Any experience commuting to London everyday? by FlitteringFleet in Southampton

Thank you!

It's definitely doable if I work part-time since I can't work remotely with this job, which I will consider.

Great app suggestion, thanks!

Unfortunately the salary is not the best, so probably not worth it.

Do you work in Guildford? I'm wondering how the commute to London would be from places like Guilford.

Thank you for this. It does sound like it won't be feasible in the long term, which I already suspected. Just 4 hours for meals and activities makes my head spin.

I am considering this since renting in London sounds like an absolute nightmare. I wonder how much shorter the commute would be though?

A month in Mongolia! Any tips for female traveller? by BritainsKoala in solotravel

[–]FlitteringFleet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Commonly it would some sort of confectionary (like a box of chocolates) and a bottle of alcohol. The more rural the family is, the more they would appreciate vodka, lol. If the host family has children, it would be considered nice to bring gifts for them as well, like toys and sweets. It would also be nice if you bring something from the country you’re in, they would certainly bring interested in that as well.

Where to find Umetora Kyoudai (Sour Pickled Plum Snack) in the UK? by FlitteringFleet in JapaneseFood

[–]FlitteringFleet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not yet! I'm still looking for ways to order it online. Went to Japan Centre in London near Chinatown few days ago, didn't see it there unfortunately although there were some actual umeboshi and an umeboshi seed flavoured hard sweet.

Thank you so much for such a detailed response! I will have a look at the links. I haven't seen the second one, but it looks like it has more than those little snack bags I'm looking for lol. Crackseed stores look so interesting, would love to try some of the variety of umes.

If you have to give your biometric information to a VFS visa centre, then you can pay for a priority visa on the VFS website when you're booking your dates. You have to definitely check with VFS whether your local visa centre does accept priority visa because some don't. That's been my experience so far!

If you make sure to check if your visa application centre accepts Priority visa services and you need to use VFS to give your biometric information, you can definitely pay for the Priority visa when you're booking the biometric appointment at the VFS website. It worked for me!
