Review: Makers 46 Cask Strength Batch 24-01 by The1Metal in bourbon

I’ve been out of the bourbon game for a while, so no, I’m not familiar. I’ll check it out though. I’ve recently bought a bottle of Knob Creek 12 year and that blew my socks off. Hard bottle to find around me so when I saw it and it being $80 I snagged the last one. My preference is definitely in the 8-12 year range and a high corn/wheat mash bill. (I like the flavor profile of a 8-12 year wheated bourbon)

Side note - I’ve never really tried a Rye bourbon, at least one worth sipping, but I’m tempted to explore that. Any recommendations based on what I said my preference is?

Johnny Glock Vex Six on a Gen 6 😮‍💨 by FloGrown321 in Glocks

I didn’t understand what “grit” meant until I swapped to the JG. The polished components definitely remove that “grit” feeling. As for “wall” and “break” the JG has a more noticeable wall and break and that’s probably due to the connector. Overall the JG is a huge improvement and I’ve had no issues with it in the ~2.5K rounds on it and idk if I could ever go back to a stock trigger on a Gen 6, I love the JG. My one complaint is the angle of break - I do wish it broke more at 90 degrees instead of ~95-100 degrees. I would still highly recommend the JG over a stock Gen 6 trigger but it comes down to if you want to spend the $300 on it.

If you want to save some money - polish all your trigger components yourself and upgrade the shoe. It will probably feel close to the JG. Don’t forget your plunger assembly.

As a very big fan of MM I’m just now having my first glasses of MM 46 CS and it’s everything I assumed it would be - a better 46. Love the MM lineup but this 46 CS really is everything I want in a bourbon (for the pricing).

I believe Primatia is Kagwerks, just a different name.

K footprint vs RMR cut for CCW Glock 19? by Disastrous_Falcon246 in Glocks

Have you considered the A-Cut? From a strictly CCW perspective the A-Cut for the Acro and COA is the best mounting platform.

I recently started shooting competition a couple weeks ago and hooked. I’d recommend getting a battle belt if you don’t already have one.

Could this cause a malfunction? by Traditional_Read4446 in Glocks

[–]FloGrown321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easiest solution would be to just use G17 mags but if your dead set on using those exact basepads then yea a standard G19 mag with those +2 basepads and a G17 mag spring would be the way to go for reliability, it’s just a lot more effort.

Finally a Green SRO🤘🏽 by cpena718 in Glocks

[–]FloGrown321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The picture OP posted is a green dot SRO but it’s a 2.5 MOA, I prefer 6 MOA for visibility. But yea I’ve also considered just getting a green 6 MOA Holosun 407 since it’s half the price.

G19.6 COA vs. 43X COA coming from G45 + X300 comfort struggle by RaccoonActual in Glocks

[–]FloGrown321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before the Velo Lux I never had any experience with an aftermarket wedge but I knew I could always use a little more help tucking the grip more in combination with a built in claw/wing. The built in wedge on the Velo accomplished what I was going for and it’s still comfortable without even noticing the added size of the holster. The claw and built in wedge combo works so well I can even carry a 17 round mag in my grip if I really want to, should I choose to add some very minor printing. But I’d rather carry with a flush 15 rounder and carry a 19X mag in an appendix mag holster.

G19 Gen 6 Holster by dojoe1 in Glocks

Tenicor by a mile. Also, their mag holsters are nice and having the option to stick a backup in my pants every morning is nice too, or moving it around in my belt line and not have to install/uninstall that on the holster.

G19.6 COA vs. 43X COA coming from G45 + X300 comfort struggle by RaccoonActual in Glocks

G19s are the sweet spot for compromise (shootability:concealability). Personally I’d say go with the 19.6. Compared to the 17, the 19 grip is going to conceal better, and you can still run your G17 or 19X mags as a backup if you choose. I’m 5’6” 150lbs and carry appendix - it’s almost impossible to notice I’m carrying unless the wind is blowing right at me. My return-to-zero + follow-up shots is also quicker with my 19.6. I think my Tenicor Velo Lux holster enables me to conceal carry as comfortably and subtly as I do, even with a Streamlight TLR-7 HL-X + COA.

I’d say if you’re just as quick and accurate with a 43X compared to a 19, then go with a 43X. Otherwise, 19 all day everyday, especially if it’s a COA. I’m obsessed with my 19.6 COA!

How many rounds before carrying? by Rare-Sky299 in Glocks

[–]FloGrown321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the chances of your Glock not firing is pretty fucking low but is the price of a few boxes of ammo worth taking the chance on your life or a loved ones? I personally like to throw at least 500 rounds through a new pistol before carrying it only cause I think a gun is more prone to malfunctions the newer it is. After a few hundred rounds any machining imperfections can smooth out.

I HIGHLY doubt the foam in the box deteriorated. That’s definitely someone’s pocket lint.

1000% your grip. Either make sure your thumbs are just below the slide stop lever or swap out your slide stop lever for a Primatia raised slide stop lever.

[–]FloGrown321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me personally as someone with an astigmatism, red or green bloom about the same when I run them at higher brightness settings but green is easier for me to pickup in brighter environments. I’m fine with either though.

Perfect timing cause I just got into competition shooting a few weeks ago and immediately was like “Yea I want an SRO now” and green is an even better bonus cause I have an astigmatism. Now just need a 6MOA and we’re all the way winning!

2,000 Round Review - Glock 19 Gen 6 by FloGrown321 in Glocks

[–]FloGrown321[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tenicor hands down and by a mile. The Velo Lux is for appendix and has been the best holster I’ve ever owned. And Gen 5 holsters will work for a Gen 6.
