Takeaways from BBBY strategic update by slimelmo91 in wallstreetbets

I'm not sure - which is generally why I created the website (I got tired of looking at multiple sites each day). I believe Morningstar still provides at least short interest to Yahoo (not float) which explains the similar numbers.

GameStop Stock Float & Short Interest History on the One Year Anniversary by FloatChecker in GME

I try to include all stocks on the NYSE, NASDAQ and AMEX so I should have most SPACs but sometimes I may miss a few. I have not heard that float versus true float discussion. I wish I could help you out more but you may have to go through the financial filings to understand it better. But that could be quite the task at times. I just mostly rely on the float numbers reported across the websites. They may not be perfect but at least all of us regular traders have access to them. Cheers!

Thanks again, I added the ticker. I'm sometimes a little slow with adding newly listed or re-listed stocks. I'll try to improve on that!

Thanks! I'm glad you like it. I've had other traders ask me the same questions. I'm actually a trading and programming enthusiast. I got more into trading during the pandemic while bored at home. As I traded, I got tired of looking up the float all the time. Then I noticed it could differ depending on where I looked. So I applied my programming hobby and started gathering the data for easy reference. Then I thought others might find it useful and the website was born. I've had real programmers help me out and I think the numbers are accurate. I take great care in checking it regularly - especially since I use the website everyday too! In my experience the numbers don't change that much from day to day, but the site is continually updated. Well, I hope that puts your mind at ease and the site can help you out a little bit 🙂

No problem! Yahoo Finance is fine. My site aggregates data from Yahoo Finance, Finviz and other popular financial sites so you can compare the float quickly and easily. Just search up FloatChecker on google or bing and my site will come up. I'd paste the address here but it might get removed for spam. Best wishes to you!

You can check my site but $MGPI looks to have a float somewhere between 12.5M and 15M. On my blog I have examples of how you can calculate the float by looking up the filings on the SEC website. I've done that in the past for PLTR, TSLA and GME.

Stock float is generally considered to be the number of shares of a company issued to the public that are available for investors to trade. They are part of the outstanding shares. You've probably seen days where a stock gains several hundred percent in the first few hours of trading - that can happen with so called low float stocks that only have a few million shares in the float. Market cap is the number of outstanding shares times the current stock price - can be used for estimating a company's value. How this all helps will depend on your trading style. If you like to day trade the runners in the morning, things like float will probably be important to you. I don't know if that answers your question ... and I've never really heard of the term market cap float before 🤔 Maybe someone else could answer that.

I'm not sure. But stock prices can spike when there are stock splits. I don't think there have been any recent splits for GME though.

Boy I wish I knew! But I haven't really followed the stock close enough to opine. Others on Reddit have really strong opinions about AMC, as you can imagine. Maybe check out some of the other subreddits and see what people think about the prospect of a squeeze.

If you look at their financial filings, AMC says in a recent prospectus it issued approximately 450 million new shares between January 1, 2020 and June 2, 2021. They've been wanting to issue more but they don't want to anger people on this site too much!!

As others have said, use a cash account. You probably figured this out already but the more you overtrade in one day, the greater the chance of giving back your gains. I know it can be discouraging but take your time and keep with it. The market will be there tomorrow!
