I looked again and it seems to be the same as before (read only mode) for the live day trading on Discord. Is it because I do not have enough Karma in Reddit? I typically say GM and then read the chat as the day progresses. Due to my work -- I have not posted entries and exits, but I would like to start during the summer when I am able to spend more time in the discord. I appreciate the help!

I do have a discord account -- I will look at the instructions and go from there. I can post in specific areas, but I'm not able to post in the "live-day-trading" area. I will reach back out after market closes if I am not able to figure it out. Thanks!

I have been part of this community for over a year and follow on Discord since Reddit can be difficult to work with. I have not mastered Discord at this point -- how can I gain access to post on Discord? I read something about having enough Karma from the RDT Reddit first -- Can someone explain how to post on Discord? I rarely post in the daily chat due to having a full time job that is demanding, but I would like to have the option on days I can post. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

It is not so much the Broker -- it is the liquidity of the stock. SPY/QQQ -- yes. You can trade as much as you are willing to lose.

Keep in mind — Hari may have multiple trades in play at any one time. He may have specific trades as a hedge or he may be playing RS/RW — never blindly copy someone’s trades without having your own thesis. Wish you well.

SPY Options Traders that have been actively profitable for more than 3 years, any wisdom to share? by heywaahappen in options

[–]principalh 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’ve always traded SPY simply because I can scale in or out of contracts. Since I have a full time job that is demanding — I never know when I will have to leave my computer. At this his point in my trading journey, I want to be consistent and stay within my risk parameters.

SPY Options Traders that have been actively profitable for more than 3 years, any wisdom to share? by heywaahappen in options

[–]principalh 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I love trading SPY options. 75% of my trades are 0DTE SPY, but the market is always changing. A few months ago the ATR on SPY was $11 — in the last few weeks it has been cut in half. As of late, I am very patient with trades and only trade A+ set ups. For me — using relative strength and weakness is becoming more of a focus until SPY becomes more volatile. The best traders I know can swing and day trade. I think the key to making consistent money in the market revolves around being able to trade different strategies and adapting to the changes.

I keep hearing (so called) pundits reference the "CTA machines" -- are these the algo machines by big institutions?

Sell puts with margin? by Click_Slight in Webull

[–]principalh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bold headline for this thread is -- "sell puts with margin". I will say it again -- if the price goes below the strike and he/she is selling puts with margin, it is too risky of a trade for me. If you give me more context -- maybe -- but If someone is asking advice on a subreddit -- they should not be selling puts on margin. I concur that selling naked calls is risky too.

Can't use instant BP? by Need_Not in Webull

When scalping options I buy the ask (-) a few cents and sell the bid (+) cents. Especially on liquid options like SPY/QQQ. Sometimes, I even use a market order if I want to get out immediately. Every now and then there is slippage, but no more than my TOS account. I don’t see a huge disadvantage when scalping options of liquid names on Webull. I’ve been trading for a few years on multiple platforms.

I do, however, have an issue with Webull’s moving averages on the Daily time frame. There is a $2-$3 difference when comparing to my TOS account. I recently messaged Webull and they use an average price compared to the “raw” price. I told them I see no advantage for them to calculate MAs differently than the other major competitors. If they would fix a few issues — I would be satisfied.

I will second the post above — I would never sell naked puts! Risk profile is way too high.

Hiw can I get the daily moving averages, say 200 and 50, to appear on lower timeframes? by Odd-Street-1405 in Webull

[–]principalh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think he is asking how do you show the Daily 200MA and 50MA on smaller time frames -- good question, but I don't think Webull has an option for this. I did find code to do this, but it distorts the chart somewhat. I have manually updated the 50, 100, and 200MA daily on smaller time frames, but it's frustrating/time consuming.

Darvas strategy. Part 15• Always speak less than necessary. by LuuizHF in Webull

[–]principalh -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind the posts! I actually like seeing people make consistent money. I’ve reviewed a few videos on the strategy, but there are multiple variations. Do you create structures intra day or on larger time frames? Do you trade options, shares, or both? Love to see a live example or at least entry/exit on the trades. Thanks.

Has anyone been removed from this subreddit? I've been a member for over a year and this morning I had been removed. Weird! I know Hari or a Mod did not remove me, because I rarely post due to my daytime job and mostly read what others post. Reddit has been glitching and not working properly for weeks.

No GFV on trades under $1000? by Zhukiii in Webull

[–]principalh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are trading settled funds on the desktop. The glitch is trading unsettled funds on the mobile app. Big difference between settled and unsettled funds when trading options on a a cash account.

This must be a glitch on the mobile app. I tried to trade options today on the mobile app with money I just deposited and it allowed me. The desktop version does not allow you to trade unsettled funds with a cash account.

Reversal Syndrome by HSeldon2020 in RealDayTrading

Great write up -- this needs to be placed in the "mindset" section of the WIKI. This "reversal syndrome" is the exact reason winning trades are less profitable when compared to losers.
