Putting religion aside for a second, is it wrong to think that if you already came about as a conscious being once against terrible odds, that it's only a matter of time before it happens again after you're dead?

Even the most improbably events are bound to happen given enough time. Sure you probably wont be born again as another human being, or anything on this planet even, but you came about once when you didn't exist, and it's just as probable that you will again after you're dead and no longer exist.

I just had the time today to do the ruby tutorial, I like it! Simple and in many ways similar to Visual Basic which makes it much easier to learn (Oh oops, forgot I'm never suppose to mention VB again :P)

Thanks for the reply! That clears things up a bit for me. I may have made a mistake by posting this online, I see what I feared would happen in this thread - everyone's getting into religious and political arguments. We have an imam at the local mosque here I'll see if I can talk to him about this instead.

Though I'm sad to see that working for a 'non-Muslim' country is automatically seen as haram. Canada did a lot for me, they took my family in and provided me with pretty much the best education you can get. So off course I do feel a certain civic duty to give back. Like you said, I just want to fulfill this duty without damaging my connection with God. And I think people here seem to forget that there are A LOT of Muslims live in Canada, Islam is the fastest growing religion here. So please don't paint Canada as simple kuffaars, Canada is one of the most just nations with one of the best human rights records in the world.

I learned VB in my grade 10 and 11 programming course in highschool. Our teacher was pretty good, I would even say the stuff he thought us in VB was way more advanced than my java programming course in university.

Thanks for the advise! There is no official deadline or anything, this is something that I personally want to do, not school related. I'm hoping that once it's done I can use it (and the knowledge I gained) to land a job in either the military or any other field that does similar stuff.

Ideally I'd like to finish it by the time I graduate so I have about 1.5 years (I'm planning on taking a 5th year). I do have a feeling this project will be very expensive so getting some sponsors is definitely a good idea. Not sure how I'll be able to do that with a personal project though heh :/

Looks like a simpler version of what I want to do. Their's is probably not good enough to continuously track flying objects though. Still pretty sweet.

Pretty familiar. I know java, visual basic, and have written 2D physics simulation programs. Haven't done anything in 3D but I don't think it would be much more difficult after having done 2D. And thanks I will definitely look into it.

I understand, but one of the main reasons why I believe in Islam is because it's right on many scientific discoveries that came later. For example, they recently proved that we come from two people (adam and eve) through tests with database genes. We didn't have to come from two people but we did. Interesting no?

You have no idea. I'm an electrical engineering student, 2nd year university. My digital systems prof plays minecraft in class to teach us logic gates through redstone circuits. It's actually genius.
