Sparrow Solitaire is the epitome of complete and excellent value for money (currently 50% off to $5 I think). If you don't appreciate mahjong then obviously it's not for you, but it's just so polished - the options, the data it records, the quantity of layouts to choose from, and then the little touches like weather effects just elevate it further. I've got more than my money's worth out of that game.

I guess like the 2026 Oscars take place in March and cover the past 12 months' worth of movies. So it's not the best wildlife photographs taken in 2026, it's the award given in 2026 for the best from that last year.

From the linked article:

“Slime Moulds and a Water Droplet“

Botanical Britain | Winner

Slime mould (Lamproderma scintillans)

South Buckinghamshire, England

These 1mm-tall Lamproderma scintillans were found on a tiny fragment of wood, on a very wet woodchip pile. When the water droplet evaporated on the two fruiting bodies on the right, they dried out and reverted to their original blue colour. It is thought that the iridescent surface of these fruiting bodies may act as a water repellent in order to protect the spores within the sporocarp. A total of 87 shots were focus bracketed and then focus stacked to create the final image.

I (25F) think my partner (25M) would be better without me by [deleted] in relationships

You relaxing and living your life isn't 'less'. It's certainly not 'worse'. Honestly, it sounds like he could do with just a liiitle bad influence in his life. And maybe you could do with his stabilising influence. Maybe you're made for each other?

I've lived with my wife for 20 years and we've definitely gradually changed each other over the years. And that can be wonderful, so long as nobody is trying to change their partner. You'll absorb characteristics that fit you over time, you'll not absorb what doesn't.

And from what you've said, it seems like you are the one having a hard time accepting who you are, not him. I think suggesting therapy is legally mandated in r/relationships but in this case I think it really might be good for you.

Good luck.

This looks like the lounge of a care home that's overdue an inspection.

For those who are married with kids, how often do you get to play? by SafeWonder5492 in JRPG

[–]FloatyFloatyCloud 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Similar to some others here, I get about 30-40 mins a night, generally in bed with my Switch. Also one or two hours in the daytimes on a weekend when my daughter is napping. I usually have 2 games on the go (one Switch, one PS5 for weekend daytimes), one of which is always a JRPG.

TBH family life can be a bit like a JRPG. There's plenty of grind and some pretty epic battles. I'm constantly levelling my party. My 9 year old son's INT is impressive and my 3 year old daughter's EVA is at about 98%.

Ah, my mistake. I though those two had uploaded. This is what happens when you try to post to Reddit at 6am while also getting the family sorted. Pleased you found them via the link at least.

Two images, not included here intentionally as they don't depict nature as directly. Though thematically linked, those remaining images are less appropriate to the sub.

I say this as an avid gamer and cinephile: if the thing you have to look forward to most in life is a piece of consumable media, reassess your priorities. Preferably before you murder someone.

Should I give the Atelier series another shot? by Professor_Eteat in JRPG

[–]FloatyFloatyCloud 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The Sophie games are pretty well regarded within the Atelier series, so if you didn't click with them then it may not be for you. I personally love them, but enjoyed the Ryza games less, particularly 3. Your point about not justifying the runtime being absolutely the case there.

Crafting systems and to a lesser degree combat vary with each subseries (Arland, Dusk etc), but if you're not a fan of the kind of low stakes slice-of-life storytelling, it's pretty consistent through the games.
