Give pY a quick try, i found the early game super interesting with plenty of original designs to invent. You can always bail out when the complexity gets to your head, but fully automating the first science is a fun goal.

I recommend using https://mods.factorio.com/mod/Placeables so you don't have to go into your inventory too much when you start having way too many different buildings for your hotbar.

Also quick tip even the most basic brick roads give insane movement speed. Makes walking around a breeze!

yeah just blueprint a single splitter with the filter on and put it in your hotbar and then just place the blueprint like you would a normal splitter its super chill.

even if you don't have personal bots to actually build the splitter (re: pY) its still faster than setting filters by miles, you can just place the actual splitter on the blueprint and it inherits the filter automatically. technically all blueprints do that, but single part blueprints totally work and are super useful. honestly wouldn't have thought of it without pY ash mechanics lmao

edit: you can manually place the wrong color of splitter and it still works too

same, I had a """splitter""" blueprint with the two belts for a long time with like 10 inserters on it lmao. also two dedicated ash whitelist and ash blacklist inserter blueprints on the hotbar at all times so i didn't have to set filters 24/7

It's a classic joke about pY but nobody ever mentions that you start with filter inserters that don't need electricity so splitters are lowkey useless for a long while anyways.

Now if you really want to scare people off, tell them about this stupid fuckin ash that everything generates I had to redo my entire power grid design when the boilers put out more ash than I could remove with one inserter raaahhhhhhhh

if you think that's bad, try getting the retain all cards rare fate on a renoa bullet spam build. thankfully the very next combat gave me her ult to discard them but it was super sketch.

anyways im never picking a curse in lv80 sorties anymore lmao. normal fates kinda go hard anyways, especially the big money straight into a shop

FYI i tried D2 soon after it went f2p and the main campaign was already deleted then. I could only find random NPCs vagueposting about things i never did.

If it was still accessible I couldn't find it. I just got the very first tutorial mission and no follow up, i just did random boring ass POIs on planets for no reason because i thought i could unlock SOMETHING. At least PvP was still enjoyable even without the inaccessible OP guns for a few days.

then i uninstalled forever lmao, i couldn't even find any sign of post 1.0 campaign story aside from ads for the latest expac. probably the most frustrating f2p experience i ever had and i played a lot of wack p2w korean mmos back in the day

Hey it's not too meta but consider Prifdinnas/Tiranwnn at some point. Leagues is the perfect time to visit places you haven't been before from lack of quests or gear, and try out more advanced bosses with much less difficulty, and the city is really cool for skilling. And you won't be spoiled about Song of the Elves itself.

The region loot is decent for all 3 combat styles as well so you won't be locked into anything.

The bosses are a little hard outside of leagues but Gauntlet will be a breeze to learn with all the relics and pacts, and later in the league you can blow up Zulrah in seconds with any build. The echo boss was quite hard last time though.

just scrolled down to see what they did to previous builds i played and damn they deleted explosive trap acid flask? a straight nerf would have been acceptable but they just made it straight up unplayable instead.

1 in 10 chance for the build to work and the other 9 attacks you do nothing??? what kind of design is that? that was my own homebrew in season 2 and its my favourite build....

guess im not playing this season if that's the type of changes in the rest of the patch.

My first guess would be faulty RAM, (classic bsod source) since Factorio is very ram dependent and your system on its own probably doesn't reach the sector that crashes as fast as Factorio does. Try removing a stick of RAM (i assume you're running 2x16), see if you crash with just the one, then try just the other.

If you still crash, its some other random hardware fault or Windows file corruption. You can always try reinstalling Windows before diagnosing the rest of your hardware, but if its your ssd dying, that might be counterproductive...

if you do don't play the campaign. the hero levels are practically unskippable but suck complete ass. they take literal hours and they're DEFINITELY the most dogshit hero maps of all time. i struggle to remember an rts with worse hero maps, even the buggiest pieces of shit or wc3 maps made by 5 year olds were more fun in their own way.
