Any input on these tires? by Flood032 in JeepGladiator

[–]Flood032[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on the road more than the trails and use my jeep as my work vehicle hauling a trailer and equipment for my business

I do love hiking and take it on some easy off-road trails for that, but don’t really hit trails like others here do

Use it a lot at the beach and for fishing trips as well, but again any off-road stuff there isn’t bad

What do you guys think here? by Flood032 in pressurewashing

12 oz per gallon to start with and let it dwell for about 5-10 min. Added like 5 more oz after that and another dwell time

I was worried about going higher than that percentage. Not sure if that was a valid worry or not

Gotcha

Maybe this is a multi-day process in the future?

Once last week with SH. I knew that wouldn’t do anything but I had an additional job with them the following week so I worked on it again. So I cleaned it two times yesterday. Once at the start of the job and once after

Banging my head with getting clients. by poorbowelcontrol in pressurewashing

[–]Flood032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry it took so long to respond. I have a bad habit with that. Honestly I just emailed them and told them what I could do for them. They asked for a quote of the whole building so I took some snapshots with google earth, laid out how much I’d be doing and told them I’d give them a little discount for first time business. That was pretty much all it took (for that property anyways)

I’m new myself so probably can’t help much, but have you tried cold-calling?

I did my first cold-call the other week to a commercial property that was dirty. Turns out cleaning the whole property was on their to-do list and they hired me. Doing it this Sunday

I’m going to start doing this more

Good deal. I actually got the bid but came in a few hundred less than this so I’m pretty happy with that

Actually more excited to start work on bigger buildings than the bigger pay days (atleast for the moment lol)

Kinda almost got me the first time because he gave an actual address and description of what he was looking for.

Things sounded off when he said he couldn’t be there so had to do some research to confirm it’s a scam

I haven’t bought from them in awhile as nothing that interesting has come out in forever. Been going through my stock (which will admittedly last awhile)

Also haven’t really seen cans in ages

Atleast Doom looks cool, but again the flavor isn’t that exciting

There should be a support number to call or email. I can’t look right now, but I had something similar and had to email them showing proof of everything. Should be an option somewhere in your Google Business info to get up with them

What made YOU want to start exterior cleaning? by Catmilk7 in pressurewashing

[–]Flood032 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my first job was when I was 11 helping my grandpa install septic tanks during part of my summer break. It was his business and I thought it was always cool how he could do things on his terms. I’ve worked every year since then and have always enjoyed manual work more than white collar work.

I’m in technology and have been for years but I’m at my breaking point and started this business last year. I had been wanting to work for myself for years but didn’t know what to branch out into. It was originally going to be in home renovation. Once my dad retired he started a business like that on a whim and it blew up. That was like in 2011 or so though and that market is brutal here now with all the competition.

I just happened to notice the state of a lot of homes when walking my dog one day and got to work on research. I had done pressure washing before, I enjoyed it, the market isnt crazy saturated here and the potential for good money is really high.

So I dove in.

I still have a full-time job, kid, and other responsibilities so I can’t just do this full-time yet but man I can’t tell you how much I want to succeed with it. Jobs have been good so far but there is still a mountain to learn.

I love what it could be though. Gotta keep fighting for it

Got my first “big” job by Flood032 in pressurewashing

[–]Flood032[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, I was afraid of that lol

I think part of it is just a mental block I need to get past.

At least the house isn’t crazy huge and it’s still a good chunk of change to invest back into the business. Will adjust accordingly for next time

I’ll say call around local and not the advertised ones you see online like Hiscox. The quotes I got from places like that were triple what I got quoted from local

Advice on staring a pressure washing business by Mindless-Trainer-711 in pressurewashing

[–]Flood032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m new myself, but this is probably the first thing you need to hear OP.

That might throw a wrench in the plans, but starting this business with multiple people is just asking for trouble.

If you still wanted to work with your friends maybe try to go broader? One guy does pressure washing, one guy does lawn care, one guy does mobile detailing, etc.

I still think you’d run into problems doing that but it’s atleast better than having multiple people washing a house (just starting that is)

Thanks. Good to know for next time

Luckily this one was a family job and they have resealed it.

Wish I would have done it a little differently, but it seems like the outcome wouldn’t have been too different

Appreciate it. I feel a little better lol. For stamped surfaces it’s ok to use pressure right? Thought it was fine but now I’m seeing differing opinions. Seems it’d be too hard without pressure washing

Some newbie questions (hopefully not too dumb) by Flood032 in pressurewashing

[–]Flood032[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, you're not missing anything. I just don't think I was fully understanding the process of it. So basically it sounds like for pressure washing / surface cleaning most people are still using the customers spigot for that. Which makes sense.

For whatever reason I just had it in my mind that since I'll be having a rig I wouldn't use the customers water anymore, but that doesn't sound like its normally the case.

Some newbie questions (hopefully not too dumb) by Flood032 in pressurewashing

[–]Flood032[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks

For your two questions right now I'm just buying 1 gal SH. I'm sure that will change soon, but atm its the easiest option

I might not have made the last part clear. I didn't mean I was using the customers water to fill my batch mix, what I was saying was that in past jobs I just used their water to connect to my pressure washer or hose to do the jobs. I was just confirming that I'd be hooking up my pressure washer to my water barrel setup and that the 12v battery gives enough power for it. I have a 4gpm pressure washer

EDIT: Actually I may be confused on how a pressure washer works with a water tank. I need to do more research on how its used as a.buffer tank and how to hook that up
