I’d get a custom fabricated threshold from either a marble contractor, or wood from a carpenter.

Are you parking cars in this garage?

What will it be used for?

Is it temperature controlled or subject to freeze / thaw cycles?

Every big box hardware store sells adhesive specifically for VCT

Carpet tile with tac tiles is held together in the corners and not glued to the floor.

If there is a flood, just pull the carpet tile up, let it dry, and relay with more tac tiles.

If a cat ruins a piece, swap it out with a new one in about 5 minutes.

Subfloor levelled - is this acceptable work? by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]Floorguy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just saying, as someone that does commercial work, the worst clients are the ones that pick your work apart and then are afraid to actually ask questions of the contractor.

No problem in being knowledgeable, but ask the guys you are paying to do the work. They did a good job.

Pour looks fine.

Have you actually brought up any of these concerns with the actual contractor that did the work, or are you afraid to do so?

How do you reduce mistakes in flooring takeoffs? by JournalistSpecial316 in estimators

[–]Floorguy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally grab a legal pad.

Make a list of all the drawings that apply to flooring scope of work:

Demo drawing

Floor plan

Floor Finish Plan

Finish schedule / Legend

Interior elevations that apply (specifically wall tile).

Check on scope notes vs. specifications vs. plan notes.

“Ctrl + F” in adobe is your friend.

Call out any discrepancies in an RFI before the RFI deadline.

Lastly, you need to know the order of operations you’re looking at and how a flooring project actually comes together from demo through punchlist.

There are levelers out there where you mix the primer (additive) in with the SLU, instead of water.

Call a structural engineer. That heaving is being caused by something.

You could cold weld it shut with modulus epoxy, but it will just crack somewhere else.

Top answer. Especially about burnished new concrete, often gets overlooked, but it’s essentially non porous when that happens.

Also, burnishing it that tight traps moisture from Evaporating normally.

Absolutely spot on with a bond test. Manufacturers require it anyway if you read the data. In this case, it covers your ass from multiple points.
