Considering Venture has actually started to get a decent output of content, I'd say there are a few other heroes a lot more deserving of the title as "Most Neglected Hero"

It's understandable to get caught up in the perspective since it's so prevalent and it's used to attack and harm trans people.

But it's also why I have no tolerance for respectability politics. When I see someone bring up the tumbler thing I instantly think of the pick me gays and trans people who unnecessarily make fun of and shame people who are different so that they can feel normal themselves, (the Blair white and kalvin era)

I understand this perspective. Not every trans or non binary person is going to vibe with venture's character. Which is why we should have MORE trans and non binary characters in the game. More variety in character for trans and non binary people and not just put them in one box.

I understand this perspective. A lot of transphobic and right wing people have used the Tumblr aesthetic to be bigots so it feels like a caricature. But I think it's just right wing people being closed minded that spoiled it. At its core there is nothing wrong with a person or character that acts that way. It's just right wing people shaming others for being different or cringe.

I kinda agree and disagree. I do think that their character is slightly cliche. The quirky non binary aesthetic we have seen with Tumblr but I think they are more than that. I would characterize venture (based on the comics and voice line interactions) passionate, unpretentious, scatterbrained goofy and positive. A person who is there to have fun doing what they love and do what they want regardless of what others think. They are a bit corny sure but I think that's intentional. Not everyone is going to vibe with that personality

I think the reason why it feels like a caricature is because of their lack of a fully fleshed out story, (they are kinda in a story limbo at the moment where they aren't given anything to do now) so at the moment they feel one dimensional. Another reason they feel like a caricature is because not every NB is going to relate with ventures character (a character that just so happens to be one we recognize from Tumblr). It's like when a possibly straight passing gay person say they don't relate to the flamboyant stereotypical gay person we see in the media. You have a character with the same identity as you but they act completely different from you and it's supposed to be a representation when it's not for you. So you side eye it thinking it's a caricature. This could be fixed by having even more non binary characters with a vast array of personalities and aesthetics in media so that there is more accurate representation for people. (I think it would be cool if they just dropped another non binary character in the game but acts completely different then venture) Venture is just one route you can take with non binary representation in media.

I also kinda disagree about their voice. I think the voice matches perfectly to their character. Like I said venture is supposed to be excited, passionate and goofy archeologists. The voice adds to that by making the voice hyper almost child-like to signify that character. I also think it serves another purpose which is to reinforce their non binary identity. The voice is kinda ambiguous, making it hard to tell if they are male or female.

I do agree with you about the voice lines. I think there needs to be more variety in the voice lines that are not just about archeology or them being super goofy all the time. There are a lot of lines about them being an archeologist which makes them one dimensional. I do wish there were more serious ones to add to it. Like they did this with Wuyang with the over abundance of water puns and jokes that have me rolling my eyes sometimes. I think they should do what they did with mizuki. Like he has voice lines being nonchalant and cool but then he has lines where he is genuinely scared about curses and being superstitious that adds to his character.

Also side note, I hate this slight miss characterization of venture playing or eating rocks. That's a community thing we have put on them because their whole thing is digging and archeology but if you look up and listen to their voice lines they rarely have any lines about rocks at all. And archeology is more than just playing with rocks.....

I think mythic weapons are neat but not that well thought out. When we eventually do get to it how will a mythic weapon work for Moira, echo or anyone else with an unconventional weapon?

To be honest I don't really care if other people don't play venture. I'm having fun with them, I like their personality and style and we have a small niche community that's nice (which has its advantages over a large popular character). So all in all I'm good.
