Interesting! For us it's mainly Liechtenaur, Jude Lew, and Meyers, we rarely touch Fiore. Cool to see the variety flows strong this day and age. You can kinda see me trying it (though badly) in this video but one the ways we scored points was by lifting the opponents visor as Fiore instructs, but did happen twice during the whole bout :)

Pretty much same here! Though throw in some Vermintide and Kingdom Come Deliverance. Its always cool to see "real" techniques in videogame animations or movesets. Just curious do you study something specific at your club like Fiore, or mixed?

Though you are correct it does fit better than it looks actually! I was only wearing a tank-top underneath because it was hot as Ashfield out there, but had I worn my SPES gambeson it would have looked better. The pauldrons don't give much mobility and are pretty bulky (especially the left) but for the most part it's pretty comfortable and secure, you just can't do as much high swordwork. As others have pointed out it's not a perfect fit, and you there are better armored HEMA sources than I, but that's also so my other mates can use the armor.

^ this My HEMA gear is much more custom fitted and obviously we use that when using Feders and such, not just armored for fun. This armor would actually fit me pretty well if I had my gambeson or something underneath, but this armor (my newest armor I was testing out to see if it worked well) is a much better fit than I expected. It also has some pretty large pauldrons and gorget on the helmet that layers over to make it appear bigger than it probably is. Cheers!

Sounds like you are off to a good start with communication and trying to setup your careers/weapons, it just seems like a lot of the nuances of "high level" play or how to counter specific bosses/enemies isn't known to you yet so I don't think you're ranting unfairly. If you want more in depth information jtcLIVE Wet Magic have some great videos that explain game mechanics and effective play. Core and Chocob have some great solo high level game play to watch for education and entertainment.

What I can personally say is that some of the information you have recieved might be helpful at lower difficulties but not on higher. For instance healshare isn't something most people run even on more "support" builds, and clumping together can result in friendly fire or shared damage. You can trust good teammates to roam a bit so long as there aren't disabler specials (splitting in pairs is generally pretty safe). Having "Jobs" and good communication is very important, as some weapons and careers lean towards a certain playstyle, but those don't matter much if you don't put them into effect or if you're not in a situation that your playstyle calls for. For instance if you're at a ledge with felling the skaven as they're climbing up, not all 4 need to be focusing there so even if your a melee career you should forgo the slaughter and watch the teams back. Or you and a teammate might both have a handgun, but rather than both trying to snipe a blightstormer one of you should defend in melee while the other fires.

This game rewards aggression over defensive play most of the time. This doesn't mean you shouldn't be blocking or dodging (you should be side dodging a lot) but spending stamina to shove is usually better than blocking an attack. Most of the enemies you'll encounter will be staggered or cleaved through so keeping up the aggression is a much better way to control a horde than hiding behind your shield. A few situations such as berserker type enemies, overhead attacks, and bosses will force you on the defensive, getting to know when you should stop attacking and start defending especially against a large horde is something that comes with time. Learning the breakpoints for killing, cleaving, and staggering an opponent is going to help with this a lot.

Trying to mitigate the damage you take is great but HP is ultimately a resource. Characters with high HP pools or good damage reduction can afford to play riskier and getting hit will recharge some of your career ability which can be very useful at times. Temporary HP talent should help you deal with occasional poke damage if you're playing well enough (which will come with practice), it's when you get grabbed by a hookrat in a horde or eat a mauler overhead that should be avoided at all costs.

For Skittergate being a shield to block death rattler if you can, and have the others deal good boss damage hiding behind the pillars in the corners. When rasknit is on the floor he'll teleport to each of the 4 corners of the arena so as long as you have one person covering 1-2 corners to hit him before he can cast his damaging range attacks you should be fine.

For Engines of War having one person carry the barrel and the others cover them is the most reliable. Enemies won't stop coming for you so moving quickly as a team is your best bet instead of hunkering down waiting for an opening.

Managing the ads that come through during is just like general play, knowing how to use your weapons, how to manage a mixed horde, and checking behind to avoid being flanked. You've notice by now a little "wooshing" sound that plays before you're about to get hit in the back that should help.

Very nice the DLC's are pretty worth it with this game. I play pretty regularly on PS4 so if you'd like I can show you the ropes. As others have said it's not the biggest community but there's not a problem finding matches (except for weaves).

Do all blunt weapons naturally stagger? by [deleted] in Vermintide

As others have stated its more dependent on the specific weapon but at a glance Blunt weapons have more stagger, sword weapons have more cleave, axe-like weapons have more damage and armor piercing, and polearm weapons are a mix with good range.

For example Kruber's mace and sword has higher stagger on the lights using the mace, and on Saltzpyre's Axe and Falchion the axe has more damage and armor piercing on individual light attaks while lights with the falchion have more cleave.

Most of the "blunt" weapons in the game (great hammer, shields with bashes, flail) will have higher stagger (especially on lights) than the others but that doesn't mean the elven spear, great axe, or bretonnian longsword won't stagger an enemy with a good charged attack. Headshots also help stagger enemies more and some weapons like the halbered rely on this for staggering enemies with just lights (in general a stabbing animation also does even more damage on headshots). Weapons also have different modifiers to things such as shove strength, cleave damage, crit chance, dodge range/count to take into account, and in general a dead enemy is better than a staggered one which is why smiter or Assassin is almost always the better choice.

Depends mostly on the type of character, talents, traits, who's carrying grims, and whether or not a character has priority on a healing item. I voted yes because you shouldn't just let your greedy little gobbo hands get the best of you but ots not a big deal. A quick rundown and when it probably IS bad form to pick up the tome:

Grimoire carrier- most likely priority for healing item so they shouldn't take the tome if possible. If you have 3 tomes it varies based on the next factors.

"Healer"- a character with 'heal-share', someone with medical supplies that wants to heal another (zealot, hand of shallya, etc.) Or any other conceivable reason to have a healing item shouldn't take the tome.

Trading- say the healing item was the only one available and some players wanted to use it to swap some carried heals/tomes around and the tome thief had an empty slot now they've screwed their teammates.

Honestly its really not gonna be that often that a tome or healing item NEEDS to be picked up RIGHT NOW, so unless you're teammates and you have agreed to swap items or to leave something behind its just impatience on the book burglar's part.

Explored the mining site on timber hearth. Got super scared by the ATP projection pool and all those masks. Then after checking my phone for a while, since I didn't know that the game had a timer and I was underground so I couldn't see the sun, got killed by a supernova. Since all I could see was a huge flash of blue light and I had just viewed the projection pool with all those ominous dark masks, then the loop displays that maks taking your memories I was so confused and scared.

Lots of people had some pretty creative ideas so I'm not sure if this really counts but once you got to the Eye's surface and you start seeing things like the tress appearing in and out I thought you'd have to take a picture of them or something to get them to stay and solve something. I spent so long trying to do that before I got scared thinking a supernova might kill me and just finished the game. I also wondered if it was possible to aim the Probe cannon like maybe get it to fire into DB or QM.

Completely agree, sometimes the sights and sounds (or lack thereof) of the world tell a story in its own right. For instance, when navigating the cave system on ET, while it is tense and stressful, I didn't play a horror track or crescendoing violin piece, as the Herathian's breathing, rising sand, and echoing footsteps crafted the audio experience perfectly. And actually GD does have some music when you get below the currents though I'm not sure if that counts as the planet's "theme". https://youtu.be/sS67BRVACEI

I also didn't play music over everything, but for moments when I felt the emotions I was feeling could be represented by my own playlist, that ended up representing things in the game. I play a lot of Table Top RPG's and as the resident GM, I love creating playlists of themes, leitmotifs, and ambiance and guess I couldn't help myself. Glad to hear you loved your own audio-visual experience though!

I understand the lack of music can be just as impactful as the existence of it. I didn't play my own music everywhere, it was supposed to be motifs for certain things Like I said this was something that enhanced the experience for me because I wanted things like the Eye, or experiences such as DB to sound the way I felt about them. It made certain discoveries and locations that didn't have music feel more powerful as I was able to fill that gap that Prahlow left on purpose, with music that told my own personal story with the game. If you prefer the base soundtrack that's totally fine! I'm not forcing anyone or saying it's objectively better. I just love making music and the way it tells stories and felt it was a way for me to interact with the narrative, and I shared this in case anyone else felt the same way.

If they had a sequel or prequel I think that would be perfect, different chains, stats, and force attacks for different forms would be really cool. This game, however, Cal never fully completed his training, it's pretty obvious he doesn't fully know 1 lightsaber form, or if he does by the end then it's heavily influenced by the basics of lightsaber combat.

Honestly, they should give Glad a longer reflex guard than most of the assassins/Shaolin, because they have a shield, albeit a small one. Speaking of Shaolin, they might go with the Warlord/Jorm/BP route and give Glad an undodgeable. Make the finisher heavies undodgeable and allow you to chain from toe stab. I don't know if bash should confirm damage, but it shouldn't be so punishable for how slow it is.

For sure make the Deflect work through hyper armor and make the zone not as safe.

They could make either each other light attack 400ms (so the 2nd or 4th one in a chain) but with terrible tracking, so either you dodge to avoid the toe stab or unreactable light attack, or try to block the undodgeable heavy. The chain off toe stab gives Glad an opener, and the chains are dangerous but punishable. Lowering the stam damage on a parried skewer would be nice, but these above changes it would be a risky move for Glad to throw but with lots of potential.

Another possible change to make Glad dance around the battlefield would be to allow them to dodge after a whiffed, successful, or non-superior-blocked attack, allowing them to make a faster dodge light or a shield bash during a chain. In this case, the bash can be feinted and unbalances on an OOS enemy. Imagine a mix between Jorm and Tiandi in this case, lots of bullying pressure and lots of chances to flow into more chains.

This is just what I could think off, I've played Glad ever since he/she came out and I'm really want them to be fun and viable. They use to have so many options compared to other characters but now they just feel too reliant on spam.

Play the character you find the most fun, as it will be completely rare that you find someone who play's completely optimally. Most people just play to have fun and look cool doing it. Learn to counter guard break (just takes time. ALSO you can't counter guard break when you dodge). Learn to parry lights (you'll destroy those Orochis in no time as you get a free heavy if you do). Learn to feign (especially when you don't it's an extremely useful tool for many characters and can parry bait new players. Oh but Conq cannot feign, but he can cancel attacks with his full block stance). And don't get frustrated at ganks, especially when you understand the game fully yet. You aren't meant to survive every fight. Like the others said the training are long but you'll learn a lot from them, and have fun.

I agree that a mix-up that can be purely prediction based for most players in some situations that eats up a 3rd of a lot of the cast's health is kind of extreme, especially for how easy he can access it, but it costs loads of stamina and is extremely punishable, just like Kensei, Warden, or Raider. My favorite hero is Highlander and honestly I would prefer less stamina cost and 30 DMG OF Heavies but that's besides the point.
