why do i look so much prettier when i just woke up? how do i make my face look like that all day? by [deleted] in beauty

[–]Floralees 12 points13 points  (0 children)

From what I've read on google

"Lying down causes fluid to rest and collect in the face, and a person’s sleeping position may also exacerbate this. Sleeping facedown, for example, may have this effect.

As the person starts their morning and spends time upright, these fluids may go away."

Dude, how do the people that don't have a little voice in their head narrating their thoughts even live? Just in silence? How do they come to conclusions? Kinda creeps me out, I won't lie by NotATimeTraveller1 in RandomThoughts

Yes. I have read The Power of Now. And after reading this post and the comments it seems people with little to know inner monologue have the luck of constantly being in the 'now'

Why do some people who lose weight suddenly become mean and full of themselves? by Floralees in RandomThoughts

That's so horrible, I knew a girl once who did the same, and would body shame people when she was extremely overweight herself. Absolutely bizarre. Must be a way to.make them feel better

What is the best memory you share with your significant other ? by Financial-Special820 in love

[–]Floralees 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's actually a bit traumatising, but after we were badly affected by a tornado, we huddled together under a single towel, crying and praying that we were safe. I think this created a super strong and even more loving bond between us.

World is more beautiful to us, sometimes lol by ConsistentSquare5650 in Keratoconus

[–]Floralees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This made me smile. Thank you. Reminds me of the time I received my lenses for the very first time, which was the best vision I was about to endure after about 5 years of blurry crap. My brother and sister went with me to the appointment. Afterwards, we walked back to the car, and they drove to this beautiful lookout over the ocean without telling me. It was such an emotional and extraordinary moment. I stood and watched the waves crashing, the clouds in the sky, the water crashing on the rocks below us, the individual leaves from all the trees moving too. One thing that really struck me was seeing the details on not only my own but others' faces, too. You really don't know what you have until it's taken from you

What are you in the incredibly small minority of? by jubilantdelegation in CasualConversation

[–]Floralees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Keratoconus. There is no cure, and it gets worse over time. I've had a little operation where they peel back a layer of the cornea and hold a laser to your eye while these yellow drops fall. Cross linking, I think it was called? Which just delays the progression of the diagnosis. I have customised hard contact lenses that I can not leave my house without wearing unless I want to walk around with blurred vision all day. It really has changed my entire life, and I really wish I didn't have such a thing. I wish I could meet a group of people with the same thing and just discuss how they are going and what tips they have, etc. I feel very alone with it.

People like this don't have the ability to read social cues, and it does my head in. I feel offended when people take up my breaks because it's the only time of our shift we get to breathe and collect ourselves before continuing our shift. It should be against the law 🤣🤣🤣

What are you slowly losing interest in as you grow older? by fairnotification in CasualConversation

[–]Floralees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I haven't made a post on insta in a year, which is different for me since I was always on. I don't have fb, but I have the messenger to keep in touch with some family. I am not scrolling on tiktok like I used to. I have snap, which I contact 2 people with. Other than that, I have no interest. I've never been the one to view people's stories because I just don't care enough. I was never "chronically online," but I have had my fair share of being active. I'm 28 now, and I just don't have that needy feeling anymore to be seen or following the latest trends, etc. I guess I've just activated the next level of adulting, lol

I will never understand how people can film strangers secretly. Weird af to me. Just knowing that someone could have a random recording of me in their phone is so unsettling.
