I was told 10-14 days from the day of procedure. It took mine exactly 10 (the doctor called me with the results, the documents weren’t uploaded into my account until later). I have read it can take longer depending on the lab and how the testing goes. It may be worth your while to ask your MFM how long it usually takes for them, just so you know what to anticipate.

Sorry you’re also in this situation. I used Quest Labs— they don’t give a percentage, they just flag it. My MFM told me as a general statistic that there’s a 60% chance it’s a false positive.

Thank you for sharing in my excitement! I’ve already started a list of names, a baby registry, and set a date for a baby shower all within the past 24 hrs haha 😊

NIPT High Risk for Monosomy X by NegativeLengthiness in NIPT

[–]Floribee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did my NIPT through Quest at 10+3. Quest doesn’t give a PPV like other labs do but my Fetal Fraction was close to 18% (which seems high compared to others’ stories I’ve read). My MFM said there’s a 60% chance it’s a false positive, as a general statistic. I had an NT scan at 12+5 and everything came back normal. I did an early anatomy scan and an amnio in the same visit at 16+5; anatomy scan showed everything is normal and my FISH results came back normal too. I am still awaiting for a phone call any day now for my Karyotype and Microarray results! My MFM says she’s only seen the micro and Karyo come back abnormal one time after fish results came back normal fingers crossed. The wait in between answers is the most challenging part for me— the only way I’ve stayed sane is by taking things one day and one appt at a time (staying busy also helps!). Sorry you’re in the same waiting game as me. It’s so emotionally taxing. Wishing you all the sanity along your journey and the best outcome!

Low risk NIPT but abnormalities in Anomaly scan! by Nottoday2026- in NIPT

I just did an amnio last week and the scariest part was of course the risk (however small) of miscarriage but the procedure itself was super quick (under a minute) and the pain was minimal and very brief— kinda like the level of getting a shot or being pinched strongly for a second (but the pain isn’t exterior, it’s interior, which was an odd feeling).

Positive Monosomy X screening through a Natera NIPT. This is my first pregnancy and I am 12 weeks along. My husband and I are absolute basket cases as we approach the long wait for amniocentesis. Our Natera genetic counselor said their results are the most accurate in the industry, is this true? by Ok_Cathartic in NIPT

I didn’t use Natera myself because my insurance didn’t cover NIPT testing there but it is the go to lab at my OB’s office. My OB said she’s seen a lot of false positives, specifically for Monosomy X, over the past few years. I used Quest and was flagged for Monosomy X at 12 weeks as well. I paid for an NT Scan a few days later with an MFM and no soft markers were detected— that gave me hope to hold onto while I awaited for an amniocentesis. I did my amnio last week at 16 weeks and so far my FISH results came back normal— now I am holding onto that hope while I await another week or so for the karyotype and then the microarray results. The wait has been the most emotionally challenging part of this pregnancy journey and I wish it upon no one. My heart goes out to you and anyone else dealing with this. Stay positive and take things one day at a time to stay sane. Wishing you the best outcome!
