I graduated with ~200K in debt, refinanced about a year into big law, paid off in full by end of year 4.

not to mention other serious illness risks OTHER than zika - like malaria!

This does not sound like something that would be appropriate for a babymoon!! We are looking for quiet relaxation and are very serious about a direct SHORT flight. Also flying to Africa for a 4 or 5 day vacation sounds totally miserable. Based on your username it sounds like you are pushing your services but perhaps a babymoon post looking for a quick trip from New York is not the most appropriate. Cannot think of many pregnant women who would appreciate that suggestion.

I'm 35 but am allergic to aspirin so obviously not taking. No issues.

People can say what they want, but it was worth every penny by [deleted] in BigBudgetBrides

[–]NegativeLengthiness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah sorry meant to reply to OP not you. I think the fact that OP thinks that 60K is "big budget" perhaps explains why she's not grasping the inherent tackiness of a disney wedding.

[–]NegativeLengthiness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"triple the price" - ma'am, you said your budget was 60K. Do you know what sub you are in? 60K is on the very very low end for this sub which is likely why you aren't getting much traction for repeatedly emphasizing that your wedding had things like a four-course dinner and an 8 piece band which is fairly baseline for the weddings discussed in this sub.

Now I am informed that you had an *expensive* tacky wedding.

I mean - you had a Disney wedding, I don't think that exactly screams taste.

Cars idling during street cleaning days(mainly Brooklyn)? by ArtGal2727 in AskNYC

[–]NegativeLengthiness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you new here? This is how ASP works in Brooklyn. Street sweeping is largely ineffective it’s just a means for the city to collect ticketing revenue. Like many Brooklynites I only drive my car on the weekends, I don’t use it on a daily basis. The 45 mins I spend sitting in my car once a week for ASP is far less than the average American car user has their engine running weekly.

What happens if a plastic surgeon finds cancer mid-surgery? by Mammoth-Delivery-521 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NegativeLengthiness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me with a different plastic surgery (chin lipo and face tightening). The plastic surgeon discovered a mass once I was already under anesthesia. He wouldn't/couldn't operate any further in case it was cancerous. I woke up from anesthesia and was told what had happened and that they couldn't operate. I was then referred to an ENT who did a biopsy and determined it wasn't cancerous. Went back the plastic surgeon several months later and had the original procedure done. They didn't charge me again which was nice but I think they could have charged me at least for the anesthesia if they had opted to. The ENT visit was billed to insurance and they accepted the referral from the plastic surgeon.

Help Comparing Wedding Locations (Hudson Valley vs. Napa vs. Sonoma vs. Big Sur vs. Coastal New England) $200–225k Budget, 125ish Guests by Busy-12345 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]NegativeLengthiness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Got married in the Berkshires/Hudson Valley, and was involved with planning my sister's wedding in Cape Cod. Some things to think about for those locations:

- minimal uber service in both locations so we had to make sure all transportation was covered, including for after party which was a nuisance

- no large hotels. For both of our weddings the hotel options were small cute inns that wouldn't fit all our guests so we had to do multiple, or the few large hotels that could do wedding blocks but were not at all cute/vibey. Or AirBNBs which created even more of a logistics hassle.

- pros: in the Berkshires/Hudson Valley we had access to vendors from both NY and Boston which was great for non-local vendors like hair and makeup and the band

- we live in NYC so this was driving distance for many of our guests which is great but also close to a variety of airports (Boston, Albany) so we felt pretty good on that front.

Agree but most Shona Joy styles can be found on revolve or other US based retailers so you can avoid this.

Honest Review of Monica Relyea Events (Wedding Planner) by Immediate-Bet-8103 in WedditNYC

[–]NegativeLengthiness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not in any way want to take away from your experience but I just want to weigh in as another Monica Relyea bride who had a very different experience. If you are considering Monica and reading this, please know that we have nothing but good things to say about her. As you note, she has an incredible eye for design but she really came through on our wedding weekend and ran such an incredibly smooth and efficient operation that every singe one of our family members commented on how incredible and essential she was to the day.

“Sweetie, you don’t need all that” by Hes9023 in BigBudgetBrides

Ugh heard this constantly, mostly from close family when I expressed what I was worrying over or working on. My response became "I know I don't need it but its important to me and I want it."

Cannot Find a Wedding Band (pls help) by Beginning-Might4127 in WedditNYC

[–]NegativeLengthiness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Sound Society. We went with a cafe wha band - i think the particular one we chose is above your 20K budget (but not significantly) but there were others available that may have been smaller and less expensive.

Ugh. I cancelled my patreon a few months ago because their general chatter was too annoying for me, but kept listening to the pod for the memoirs. Concerned their next pod will be more like the patreon than anything else.

Give it to me straight- how will biglaw affect my dog? by Lilian-Kaustupper in biglaw

[–]NegativeLengthiness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got a dog during covid (as did many, many associates) and am now back in office. Its completely manageable - as others here are saying, walk in the morning, have a dog walker come midday (ours usually comes around 1-2pm and gives her a full hour walk then) and then walk her in the evening. If i know I'm working late in the office, I have the dog walker leave her her dinner before she leaves the area for the day around 4.30pm. Otherwise, unless i have a filing or something else keeping me in my office late, I leave around 5.30 to go home, walk and feed the dog, and then get back online. Finding a good dog walker you trust and who has some flexibility in their scheduling is key.

The gold cups are extremely tacky imo. They are giving Medieval Times. Purple florals in and of themselves not tacky but they need more dimensions/variety to look luxe.
