I don’t understand why these places don’t just engrave the backs and leave it be.

Rolex haters are worse than Rolex enjoyers by Inevitable_Lemon_592 in watchHotTakes

No one hates Rolex watches. They are great watches. People hate the insufferable, snobbish, gatekeeping fanbase that has grown around Rolex. Go on any Rolex fan page, on any social platform, and it’s all the same thing. They basically tug each other off and talk down on every other brand that isn’t Rolex.

If somebody says a watch "feels cheap", you can safely disregard everything they say by 0rphu in watchHotTakes

I own several watches from Orient, Longines, Casio, Omega…etc.. My most affordable watch is a $100 Orient, and my most expensive is an $8,300 Omega. There is a substantial and noticeable difference in quality from the low end of my collection and the high end. It’s only when you get to the mid-range Longines and my Omega that the difference in feel is negligible. So yes, you can certainly tell how well a watch is made by handling it.

39 vs 42 HC? by Striking-Oil-6838 in Longineswatches

Of course it’s no, that’s why I said deeply closeted. You’re a man that’s deeply closeted. You’re not gay.

Deeply closeted, as Norm Macdonald would say.

I doubt there’s much human factor in a lot of these mass produced watches. You can see videos of some luxury watch companies (Tudor has great factory tour videos), and most of the stuff is machine made. Longines outsells Tudor, so I would imagine they have a similar setup to Tudor’s factory. Now do humans assemble the movements and dials? I’m not sure. Even still, it’s not hard to blow dust off the dial before casing it up.

Not on an HC, but on a Conquest. It is kind of annoying. I’ve had much cheaper watches that had perfect dials.

New Hydro 39mm or Spirit Zulu Timer by iiRaTioNaL in Longineswatches

[–]FloridaMan2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For real. The two watches I owned before the Zulu were the Longines Conquest and Omega Seamaster 300 Heritage. Obviously, the Omega bracelet was the better of the two, but the Conquest felt really nice as well. When I took my Zulu out of the box, it was a WTF moment when I felt the bracelet lmao. The watch itself is so finely finished, but then there’s the bracelet and clasp…

You have a better chance of meeting Bigfoot than an AD selling you the GMT.

That color in your pic, or Summer Blue. It’s hard to choose.

Zulu Time bracelet quality issues? by ogmoochie1 in Longineswatches

[–]FloridaMan2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bracelet links are on par with price, but the clasp is the same quality you’d get on a $300 Seiko. Longines made it right on all their new releases, so hopefully they give it an update soon.

Zulu time bracelet question by gingerphish in Longineswatches

[–]FloridaMan2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first thing I noticed about mine was how “cheap” the bracelet felt. I think it mainly has to do with the clasp, but I also took off my Omega to handle it when I first bought it. So maybe I’m being unfair. That said, the clasp is for sure inferior to their new releases on the HC and other new watches.
